What does everyone use to draw up their case mods on the computer. I've used the google program but didn't find it that good for designing cases.

Is there anything better out there?

Thanks

Josh

I use SolidWorks, it's a very nice program, very intuitive. But I don't know what it's cost you, because I'm running a student licence...

I have also used ProEngineer, but that does the same as solidworks, only you have to put much more effort in it. So I wouldn't recommend ProE

I hear the google sketchup thing is nice, I have never really tried it though. But you're right when you say that the google sketchup is a little underpowered...

Can you please show me an example of a case drawn in solidworks?

Thanks

I could... but I don't wanna give away my idea for my next mod :D

so I'll draw another case in SW tomorrow or something and I'll show you that one instead;)

Could I use 3ds Max to design a case?

Sure. Any program that your good at or have access to will work. I use Sketchup, because it is easy and works great for my purposes. I, unfortunately, paid for it right before Google bought it and it was free. It's worth checking out and taking 30 minutes to learn.

Ok, I didn't have enough time to make a new case in SolidWorks and it doesn't look like I'll have much time soon. So here are some components that I have already drawn in SW.
first is a PSU, not very detailed, but it looks OK:

next is my customdesign HDD-'cage' with 3 HDD's in it. Also not very much details but enough to see what it's supposed to be ;):

and last, a sneak preview on the inside of my distant future-project (I left the front and side out of the picture...:

If you want to you can make some renders that are far better than these. for example, I now have a texture of a mobo cvering the mobo. It looks a lot nicer that way. Also this is just a 'sketch' to give myself an idea how my idea's will look in real life.
hope this is good enough for you
