I know it was posted in the Tip&Tricks forum, but I had questions about that stuff.

http://www.ovelha.org/pasteler0/2005/12/06/howto-blinking-leds/

Ive heard that such a setting can toast the TIP31 since it receives the data in the ground connecter when you plug it in the jack while it got power flowing thru, which result in TIP31 toasting.

1. Is there a way to NOT toast the component when we plug it? And Id need something passive and not a switch (Ive thought about switching the ground line so it won't get power when i plug it)?

2. We really can jack anything in it? For example, if I put a couple of cathode tubes and LEDs, is there a way that I can power all my stuff?

And, I could decide to use 8 bright white leds that works on AA batteries (1.5V) on a 12V line, except my father will not have his night solar leds anymore... unless I can find more 1.5V leds.

Any tips on how I could do that project? THanks!
