Ok, So heres my idea...so far, I have yet to see a wireless Xbox 360 controller for Windows--so, I was thinking, would it be possible for me to strip out the wireless transmitter and receiver from a mouse and put it in there somehow...also, maybe if I could find a way to make it's Xbox Guide button to turn on my pc--like it does for the 360.
I don't know, I think if it had all that, then it would be worth the 45 bucks......

Buy a wirless xbox controller find out what the freq it transmits at. Buy the adaptor for some other device like a wirless mouse that either runs at the same freq or can be opened and modified and then find some firmware. I know you can do it with wired controlers but I haven't seen it done with wirless.
Sticking the wirless compoenent in it from a mouse would be difficult as I doubt it would interface with the controler.

The XBOX 360 controller (wireless) runs on a frequency of 2.4 gigahertz.
And the cheapest price for a reciver that runs on a computer at 2.4ghz is the following item:
Cordless presenter (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-2-4-GHz-Cordless-Presenter/dp/B0007KVK8E)
hope this helps

...
there is a 360 wireless controller adaptor coming out soon.
besides, i reckon the signal is encrypted, to stop third-party manufacturers making their own.

Oh, so they will be coming out with one for the pc?
That would be nice since I didn't want to pay another 54 dollars for a 2.4 gig receiver--then I would have gone with the wired controller.....
Thanks for the help.

So, yeah, I found a recevier made for all wireless xbox 360 products to be utilized by windows. Here it is...
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202927469&SearchEngine=Froogle&SearchTerm=202927469&Type=PE&Category=Game&dcaid=17379
So, that answers my question...it's just too bad it can't turn on my pc through that...or maybe it can, it just might take some serious hacking and modding.

^^
thats what i was talking about.
me thinks it works with the headset aswell.
i dont reckon you could get a boot up from it though. but maybe you could get yourself a cheapo wireless kit, sit the transmitter in the controller, and hook it via a relay to the guide button.

Actually, it wouldnt take that much modding. If you had a soldering iron and some random electronic parts, you could make your own transmitter for the controller that would not send an encrypted signal, but also have the one that did send the encrypted frequency (I'm guessing you still want to use it as an xbox remote, lol).
