can't remember who it was, but in another threat, someone mentioned about canadian distributors. This brings up a very good point. In this post, place the names of all the places you buy pc/modding components from and who you'd recommend the most (or not). It might be helpful to mention which country you're in too...
i live in the uk
my fave shop is yoyotech (www.yoyotech.co.uk)
then it's scan (i have a deal where i get free p&p) (www.scan.com)
one of my least favourites is www.overclockers.co.uk because they seem to overcharge on delivery n stuff. just seems overpriced, not overclocked!

i had a look at microdirect, they don't seem to be that competitive on price most the time
I live in the United States (California) My favorite place to buy hardware from is newegg Like 99.9% of the time newegg has what I want, if not I go to zipzoomfly
Modding:
crazypc (USA)
xoxide (USA)
General Hardware:
ewiz (USA)
Canada computers (Canada)
newegg
zipzoomfly
frozencpu
xoxide
dangerden
Pretty basic really.

i'd suggest against zipzoomfly unless you've got money to spare. i had trouble with them back when they were called 'googlegear' and their BBB report hasn't improved one damn bit.
among other things, they shipped mislabeled memory (new sticker over the old one, giving the wrong specs and "warranty void if sticker removed"), messed up charges, and various other crap.
they apparently do (or did) charge a restocking fee for DOA components that were RMA'd.
if you're in the USA, check out bbb.org before you buy from any online merchant. there are probably some other merchant rating sites out there too.
can't say enough good about newegg though :p
i ordered a couple of video cards a few years back from them, and they called me the next day: "Your order went through before our database could update the website, we're actually out of that component. we can ship them when they arrive at no cost to you, or we can ship you a higher-end card with the rest of your order."
so yeah. it's all anecdotal, but i avoid zipzoomfly like the plague :P
cdw's a good vendor too, if you don't mind paying a bit more. they're good quality but are generally more focused on corporate sales and such.

I buy my parts from a range of local retailers sometime I can haggle and beat em down on price a bit if I'm getting a few things. 8)

yeah, been shopping on Tottenham court road recently (in the centre on london) gotta say it's easy to haggle these people down to nearly nothing. I got one bloke down from his 210 quid asking price on a mobo to 160, then i didn't buy it!! (i could still get it cheaper online)
(all prices are in GBP, not USD!)

I like pricewatch.com sometimes when II know exactly what I want and I want the lowest price. Newegg of course is always good.
