ok i think i found my inspiration for my eventual mod. its the game archspace.
if any of you guys play it, the thing that really got me thinking was the picture of the evintos dreadnaught in the ship section of the encyclopaedia. that thing looks awesome.
then i got inspired to incorporate some engraving... and i was thinking about how i can make things clean and functional, yet still have a theme.... and im pretty sure this is it.
if you dont know what archspace is, go here http://www.archspace.org/ and check it out for a bit, especially the ecyclopaedia. you'll find descriptions of weapons, pictures of ships, descriptions of race... lots of stuff. you'll learn what im talking about when i say evintos and dreadnaught. its an addictive game though, so be careful.
so anyways... its just... i just... i need to get a picture drawn up i think because the pictures on that site are old and small. the game's been around for years in one form or another. ill draw up a new, custom version of the dreadnaught... it wont serve any purpose for the mod, but maybe it will give me more ideas.
the things i DO have in mind now are to do with weapons, armor, and computers. in archspace theres reasearch you do, and you get tons of different stuff because of it. weapons like homing black holes, distortion blaster (it shoots stuff from other dimensions), nova torpeda (makes a big sun when it explodes), time-wake homing missile (it follows its own probability to get almost 100% accuracy), and all sorts of other heavy duty crap. armor like eternium (its the toughest armor, but cant be repaired), energy organic crystal (my favourite because its hard crystal, it heals itself, and its strong against everything), and wall of klein (its like a pan-diimensional armor that can completely distort any projectiles or missiles and repair itself as damage is being done). and lastly... computers... not many of them, but theres enough... genetic computers, optical, quantum, and neurocomputers.
so i think theres plenty of stuff to warrant the use of acrylic, cool lighting, and nice etched designs in the metal and acrylic.
ideas? comments? anything? i think the picture will help, but it wont be done for a while. i take my time when drawing.
