I didn't find it all that scary, just kinda creepy.

I still think Doom 3 is the scariest game I've ever played. That may sound cliche, everyone saying it's scary, but that game ACTUALLY scared me. After I finished playing it for the first time I had to go put some more deodorant on I was sweating so much.

The game that got me going the most was Medal of Honour Pacific Assault. Like defending a hill outpost from charging japanese kamazi troops and finding you had run out of ammo is not fun. I could only play it in hour sessions and afterwards I could hear my heart in my head. Only time a game has got to me normally I just laugh it off and blow whatever is comming at me to bits.

Yeah doom3 was the scariest. Back a year ago, Without the godmode, it was scary as hell. After every door there was a zombie motherf*cker ready to kill you.

Ok, I change my mind. Doom 3 was the SECOND scary game I've played.

I just started playing Half Life 2 again, and now I remember the scariest game I've played. It was that.

It isn't really that scary until you get to "We Don't Go To Ravenholm...".

I just got there again. I was looking at the pair of legs hanging from the tree, turned my view, and saw a zombie about to wack my head off. I nearly crapped myself. Nearly. And don't even get me started on those frickin' track-star zombies that come at you at 75mph.

Or when you're crawling around in the sewers, and all of a sudden, the gentle buzz of those flying blades...

...the frantic search for the source of the noise...

...and the inevitable empying of the shotgun in an attempt to ground the bastards.

First time a game's ever given me a real edge of your seat experience.

Yeah Half-Life 2 scared the crap out of me the first time i played it. Even now when I know whats coming I glance behind me. I think the scariest part (other than Ravenholm) was when your stuck in that tunnel with the huge pile-up of cars and a horde of zombies start comming after you. I just hit the turbo and jumped the cars all togeter:p . Oh and who could forget the part where you leapfrog the gaint wooden spools to get through the radioactive sludge and zombies pop out from underneath  .

It's such a gripping game I have played it three times through now I love it. On thing though there is a glitch on the last level (fixed in patch) where you have to noclip to get through a wall.

I borrowed my friend's copy of FEAR last week, and I have to say I'm not entirely impressed by it. The game is certainly engrossing, and creepy as all hell, but the guns feel really terrible. They don't seem to have much control at all unless you are in "slow motion" mode. I wish you could change the fire mode from burst to single round on some of the assault rifles, and the sound effects for them seem somewhat weak. Maybe I'm just spoiled on HL2 and stuff, but I really don't feel like they engineered them very well.

The story is intriguing, though, and fun to play through. I'm nearly done with the third level at this point (don't have a lot of time to play around, unfortunately), and am enjoying it, but I found that bit frustrating. The AI is quite good, though - I frequently find myself being outmaneuvered by the troops and have to do some fancy footwork to stay alive in group battle situations.

Doom3 for me was the scariest with silent hill 3 a close second/. It wasn't so much the graphics as it was the sound _with_ the graphics. I think I got a kink in my neck the first night I was playing doom3 from trying to see what was sneaking up behind me. I got to a point that I put the game away and un-installed it from my computer. Now I want to finish it and cannot find the disks...

That is funny as hell. I'll never understand why I and so many other people like yourself get so scared over something that is so... not real. lol oh well, those games are fun as heck anyways.

I've actually never played any of the Doom games. I played Duke Nukem once though. :dead:

What is the scariest game you guys have played? I've played Fear at night with a full moon and all by my lonesome once. That was pretty scary. Lol I had to watch cartoons for 2 hours just so I could not be scared to fall asleep. 8)

Yeah, From some wierd reason, Whenever I play a game at night scares the **** out of me, I can't sleep.....So I just use a bit of a Vitamen-Porno to help get my mind off it....

In the day, Game seems boring...not scary at all....

Hmm I reckon Oposing Force was more scary personally but yeah walking around in the dark and having head crabs jump at you still gets me. Ravholm in HL2 was fair nuts I got freaked out when one of those really fast zombies first came at me I pumpeed so much shotgun lead into that thing even after it was long dead. :devious:

I didn't think Ravenholm was that scary...i went through most of the level with the gravity gun and a circular saw blade. It's hard to be scared of zombies when you're cutting swathes through them with flying saw blades.

I just finished Ravenholm yesterday, and I'm glad I did.

I wish I had a saw blade through the whole thing. I used a lot of exploding things, and I lit a zombie on fire, and I swear I heard it yell "I don't want to DIE!".

That was just creepy.

Yes but have you played it on Hard not just normal those zombies are real quick and mean and weapons aren't as effective as on normal and easy a shot or to kills em but on hard it takes a bit more lead to bring em down.

Another scary game (well, mod) I just played was Minerva. It's an HL2 mod and for a third-party mod, it is very well done. And it has a lot of moments where you just jump and go "Whoa, I didn't see him there".

I must say HL2 has been my favoritegaming experiance and some of it was tense, and the prison got pretty scary, but it was a little to 'clean' to be really frightening for me, just fun. In Fear the combat wasn't as good because the environment was less real: barrels dont move, etc. which seems unimportant in HL2 when your fighting, but without it something seems not right in Fear. the non-combat parts were very disturbing though.
I wonder has anyone else here played Condemned? that game really gets the scare you to death atmosphere right. I jumped and felt crazy when a 'dead' body fell out of a locker and grabbed my arm...

I have played a couple of the silent hill series. THAT game scared the bejeebies out of me. I usually play games at night and I had to walk away from silent hill a couple of times. I still have not finished the last one I started (silent hill 3). Couldn't sleep a couple of times after playing so that is why it is still sitting on my shelf.

I must say i'm playing doom 3 at the moment and meh... I don't find it that scary... Just open doors with a flashlight in hand, finger on the swap flashlight button (your second best friend after the trigger), one finger on the back up button, one finger on the trigger... and make sure that your guns are loaded!

The type of stuff that really scares me is things that actually mess with your mind... Has anyone tried playing Eternal darkness throughout the night after not having slept the night before? (no cheating by sleeping during the day!) Your mind will be so open with the ways the game tries to mess with it that you won't be able to sleep for another three nights! MAYBE you will be able to sleep during the day if the room is bright and sunny...

The only part of any game that every really, really, gave me the creeps...and i know a lot of the guys here will agree, especially the parents...are the nightmare scenes in Max Payne.

The game was fun, silly even, but those nightmare sequences really made you feel like...hell, i don't know. I'm too tired for this.

OK whoever said Condemned is scary, that was an understatement. That game scared the bejeezus out of me. And Half-life 2's Ravenholm was creepy. The fast zombies are nuts, the cry they do scared the crap outta me.

I got FEAR the Directors Cut a couple of days ago and the expansion. Not finished with the original yet, but man it's good. I think they did a great job with the tension in the game, it's very suspenseful. And I've had a few oh **** moments already, I'm lovin it.
