I've been here a while and I've been wondering:
Who are all the moderators and admins on this site?

Rankenphile

No idea. Probably a bunch of dorks.

DaveW runs the site and it is CrimsonSky's as far as i know.
there is someone else who moderates as well, i cant remember. The description under thier names let you know.

Edit: Rankenphile is one of them

Well Crimson Sky owns this site. So you better bow down....

DaveW and RankenPhile are the other admins......

and I don't know much about mods.

I think Ranken and Dave are the only 2 mods here.

If they have more than 1,200 post's then i'd say its a fair bet that they are admin's

Honestly, Dave is one hard-working dude. He does more for this place than I can keep track of.

I help out here and there, but have been missing a lot of my duties lately because of personal responsibilities coming up and biting me in the ass. I do what I can when I can, but Dave really is the backbone of the place.

And Crimson... well, he's just a pimp, what can I say?

Slug Toy
10-19-2006, 04:11 AM
id like to be a pimp too... i draw a really good pimp hat, so i could make myself one out of paper, and ive got some pretty sweet sunglasses to go with... and then id get the biggest damn peacock feather to put in the hat.... and id wear really baggy pants that you can inflate like a balloon, and a striped green and red button-up shirt thats only half done up... and ive got a silver necklace with an ammonite on it that i could wear. and dont forget the pimp cane... mine would be a gold plated crutch and the foam top would be replaced with part of a tire off a formula one race car. man, id be the head pimp.. the guy that pimps out other pimps.

crimson is so lucky... what a life. i think we should call him one of the following from now on:

-crimson pimp
-sky pimp
-pimp masta sky
-the big red-and-blue
-big daddy crimson
-king-pimp (kind of like king gimp except for the... 50 inch chrome wheels.. no, not chrome... titanium/platinum plated!!!)

<EDIT> oh... and new names for the other guys. if dave is the backbone... we'll call him "old bones" or "flying pelvis". and you rank... you can be "old nippy" to go along with the old bones thing, or maybe "respectable hands"... or "the delayed wonder" if youve been missing out on your duties. or maybe "jerome"... jerome is a good name.

in fact... im going to assign everyone a new name... semi-officially of course. ill write it all down somewhere to remember. ill start by referring to myself as "the amusement-driven concerto". i wonder what it would be like to refer to myself in the third person past tense...

Ok. Let me explain it from what i know.

Crimson Sky started this site with Scarab (Terry Stern I believe, who's name is still at the bottom of this site, leading to a blank page for some reason). As the man who's come in after him and worked with his code, he's done a damn good job putting this site together. After that, Crimson and Scarab opened up the forums and got some moderators. (zeus, zed, Dante, the_wippuh, and a few other guys.) A short while later, some big ideas never really took off, (they wanted to get reviews on the front pages, which didn't really work out fully) and a lot of r the moderators got bored, and kind of dissapeared. (This isn't true for all of them. I think Dante is too busy looking after his kids to do this site anymore.)

Rankenphile got made an Admin, and when he realised he was on his own, made me a Moderator first, then an Admin later so i could program the site more efficiently. Crimson was busy modding and trying to run his business.

I've noticed Scarab popping in randomly from time to time - twice since I was made a moderator.

But at the end of the day, Paul's the king and me and Rankenphile are the only active 'knights'.

I guess that makes you guys like peasants or something. Maybe jesters. ;) I'm kidding. Hope this answers all your questions. This is probably not all right, but Crimson Sky can correct me if i'm wrong.

Dave pretty much hit the nail on the head. Although I started this website back in 2001, for some reason waybackmachine (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.thebestcasescenario.com) has archived info from early 2002 only. I met Terry in 2001, but it was only in 2005 that with his tremendous help he redesigned the website and put up the forums as you see them today. Terry has since left to take on the challenges of web design/development/marketing type stuff.

Through DaveW's and Rankenphiles's efforts we have kept this place alive for you crumb-bums to enjoy and learn from. The dedicated server is costing me a freakin' fortune so you better friggin' enjoy it or else I'll send some Brooklynites with names like Muscles Marone and Tony Two-Toes to your towns so you can kiss their pinky rings. Fuggedaboudit.

But seriously I sincerely appreciate the efforts and dedication to the people who contribute here. Now go mod something or someone.

That was an awesome history lesson Dave!:up:

Crimson, Thank you so amazingly much for this website. You can't even begin to understand how much it has not only helped me and allowed me to grow but also this website has really saved me from some not so great things in my life.

Now thats not to exclude everyone else who contributes to this website! I especially thank you! If it was not for you then this website would never be what it is today.

And then even posted in my forums saying I hope your <wurble> now... I no longer have <wurble> <WurbleSense> since.

Yeah, Servers cost alot to hold up for forums and such. Recentley my friend Chris's forums (Rsboards.com), I helped him set it up a few years back. He has to upgrade his servers, becuase he gets like hundreds of new members a day, The new servers are like $230 a month.. Jesus

I ask a simple question, wait a day and this is what happens!? I've created a monster!
jk, but I got another question :what is the list of the people who have custom forum names?

Not always. Web-based server hosting cost had dropped drastically since 2002/2003 because of the .com dropout. If you don't consume ungodly amounts of bandwidth on a website, typically your hosting fees are next to nothing compared to the amount of revenue you can make from them.

If you're a site with a large dedicated userbase, then your costs will be higher because of bandwidth and server usage consumption. Hundreds of new members is great for a site/business but means more infastructure in the server farm.

As for the other posts, I leaned a little more history of TBCS forums. We should all thank our mods/admins/javamonkeys for doing such a great job and keeping this place clean and focused on our hobby. Thanks guys.

yay, im a jester... a terrible terrible jester.

i have no idea what happened back there a bit... but i check in after about a day of posting some awesome stuff... and theres wibbles and wurbles and complete verbal chaos. i missed something really special didnt i? something so outrageous it had to be wurbled... and i was probably asleep at the time.

was it something along the lines of:

ive got some huge <wurbles> and thats what <wibble wubble wiggle>. its just <WURBLE>!!! <wuble wurble wibble>, and <wobble>... <wurble> on that. oh daddy <wuble>, my crisp army of <wubles>, all my cheese <wurbling>. my life!

dammit! evidently theres some sort of auto-editting feature built into my hands now. i must have accidentally downloaded it through the keyboard... tactile downloads. i hate them.

anyways... simon, fandangle doesnt cut it... you're just going to be known as "the dengler". much better than any dangle. and snowfire, you can be called "fat dave" if you want, but i was thinking more like "midget tosser". and of course you can be called "Richard Cranium" airbozo... although i dont understand why you would get any trouble for the name.... quite tame in my mind.

actually, heres an idea. how about being able to give ourselves special names instead of the generic fresh paint, anodized, overclocked, and so on. i really dont like being water cooled... ive got way better things to put in there, and ill soon have awesome things for everyone to put in theirs as well.
