Lian-Li G50 *Black Edition*

At first I was thinking of the Tuniq Symmetry 1 chassis to do some engraving work with. But the fact that only the front bezzel was alluminum ended up turning me off.

Luckily I ran across the Lian-Li G50B on newegg.com. It is simple, clean, and very visually appealing to me. But where as before with the Symmetry 1, I can't seem to get any idea's of engraving work to be done on it.

So of course, what would I do when I needed a good place to brain storm? Post a thread! At the moment I dont have any ideas so this thread is mainly here as a place holder so I dont forget. But if anyone wants to make suggestions of ANY kind then please do! I'll be back later when I have given it a bit more thought and possibly browsing websites for inspiration.

Just an idea I had, more to surely come later.

What about an engraving on the side of the case of the "Grim Reaper"? That might be pretty cool! Then I could engrave some skulls on the front panel or something like that?

Heres an idea... lets have a butterfly on the end of his sickle. That would be kind of artistic in a way... because those two things are clearly not associated with eachother. lol just an idea though.

If you do the butterfly, you should not only engrave it, you should paint it. So you would have a black case, an engraved Grim Reaper, and then a very colorful butterfly. I think that would be a bit more artistic.

At the moment I am spent for cash. I have about 110 dollars for this mod which means I can only get the case and the engraver. Which is actually more money than I have so I will have to bum some money off someone so I can buy the engraver. Engraving mixed with paint would be a coold idea but sadly I cant afford it.

IDEA:

I was watching Naruto today (shut your faces lol) and one of the characters turned into a demon or something. But thats not what I wanted to discuss. When he turned into a demon or whatever, a cool looking pattern grew over him like a full body tattoo. Kind of like a leopard print tattoo but the shapes were more like a ripped look you would find on a custom car or something. So it got me thinking that I could also do some sort of intricate pattern design that covers the entire computer or certain parts of it. Sorry I dont have any pictures for example this time. I looked but didnt find anything I liked.

Well... lol I really cant think if any other idea that are better than the Grim Reaper one. I guess I should of tried to think up dumb idea's first and then gradually move onto cooler ones like the grim reaper.

Anyone have any idea's or areas they go to for inspiration? Inspiration... that is a good word. Mmmm.... taste so good. HUH? What?

I started drawing a Grim Reaper holding an "all seeing globe" today just for the fun of it. It is actually turning out pretty cool for just winging it. If I can incorporate more detail into it so it is more visualy satisfying I just might go with that to etch into the side of the case.

Maybe etch in letters somewhere saying, "Whos next?". Or something like that because it looks like he is looking into the globe. Little bit o dark humor I guess?

I think it would be cool to somehow incoporate the purple chakra flow that Sasuke has around him. Of course, it can be used with the grim reaper instead of Sasuke.

I'll try posting a picture of my drawing as soon as I can find my dads camera. I'm not much of an artist but its not a kindergarden doodle either. I'm just trying to keep it as simple but as realistic as possible. You know, not like a cartoon but not like real life either.

I drew the sickle like it was being held at his side with the blade pointing behind him. I think that has a much better affect than my previous idea.

I'm having trouble drawing his bone hand... It's not easy getting it to be at least semi realistic. It's kind of extended too... like his bones are longer than say a humans.

The orb that is kind of floating above his hand is pretty simple. It's black and shiney.

Also I found that drawing a robe isnt easy either. I cant get the folds and stuff right. So I guess I'll have to keep that to a minimum. Which means it wont look as detailed as I wanted it to. lol maybe I can get my younger brother to model for me.

Does anyone know of some really dark art? Something that would be somewhat easy to engrave? Like tormented souls or something like that. Just something that I can engrave onto the case and really freak people out you know? I've done alot of research on google but I cant seem to find the really good stuff. None of the stuff I have seen is... effed up enough. lol

But it gets better, he MIGHT order it for me AND pay for it too!! Which leaves me with about a hundred and five dollars to play with on the case! *Drool*

I should try and make one instead out of the alluminum lian li drive bay covers that come with case.

Would this be cheaper instead of buying one?

What kind of components do I need?

I was thinking that I could just drill some holes and install some switches but I know there is more to it than that! lol I wish it was that easy...

Maybe you can do something different than just a pile of skulls in the corners. You can do something like what was in the pictures I sent you. If I remember correctly, there was one picture that looked like an emblem made from skulls and bones. That might work for the front part of the case (spanning over a few bays).

BTW. I have the grim reaper finished. I had to redraw him and simplify him alot because I'm not exactly ready to do "detail" work. But he is still pretty good looking if you ask me. I'll try and take pictures as soon as I find my dads digital camera.

Does anyone have any information on how to create a bay cover switch bus? Is it very hard? Is it worth it price wise?
