sorry, I just saw this (http://www.boingboing.net/2006/10/22/pot_grown_in_a_pc.html) mod and I think this dude seriously kicks ass.

I do not aprove what he was doing, but I think the idea is daring

Well... he had a good idea, but it looks like he misused it big time. Too bad. This is why you dont try and outsmart the police kids. Learn it well.

It gave me an idea though. You could grow a *Bonsai* tree in your computer!! That would be seriously awesome!

Rofl...i think you mean Bonsai tree. Banzai is a traditional japanese cheer, which has in the west, taken on a different meaning.

Hey that computer may soon be legal in nevada...

http://lasvegas.about.com/cs/state/a/Marijuana.htm

Did anyone catch the stories out of Afghanistan about the military having issues trying to catch the bad guys as they slipped into the fields of 10' marijuana. They tried to burn them down and that caused another set of problems (like all the guys standing downwind...)

as i recall, the problem was less that everybody downwind got high, but that green pot plants are incredibly sappy plants. they just don't burn well.

That too, I was just being funny.

I was remembering back to the late 70's when they had a controlled burn in colorado to get rid of all the pot the local law enforcement agencies had siezed during the last year or so. There were throngs of hippies (go cartman go!)(my older sister included) hanging around the burn trying to be downwind and one of the news camera helicopters got caught in the billowing smoke and almost crashed. The FAA fined the pilot for getting too close and operating a helicopter under the influence...

But then again I remember the Rocky Mountain Bong-a-thon...

The way you guys talk you make it sound like he had a meth lab in his computer. I'm sure many of you have never tried weed and never wish to but there's really no need to downplay it. You can smoke and be successful or smoke and be a "druggie," it depends on the person. I say, all the more power to this brave 17 year old. People need to stop buying into the media bullsh*t and get their facts straight.

I agree. I have friends that have smoked maryjane for 30+ years and are successfull wealthy software engineers and I also know a few people that stopped doing _anything_ a year after they started smoking. It is all about moderation and control. I know more people with alcohol problems than weed problems...

Agreed. I have friends who have friends that do many different drugs. And I worry about them everytime they hangout with them. Not only do I not want them starting drugs, but they can get into alot of trouble if they are even with someone who has drugs.

Good idea, and design, but put to a stupid use.

In afgansatan some Candian troops were chasing some insurgents and they chased them into a cannabis field and the Candian troops used incendiary Grenades to flush the insurgents out except it doesn't burn well and the stuff that did burn caused the troops to get high and very sick.

Here is the newspaper article from reuters on it

Personally, I think that mod is downright hilarious! Good for him! I mean really, who would have thought to turn his comp into a phototron?

Hey, this got me thinking. Someone mentioned a Bonzai tree in the PC and it reminded me of something I want to build someday but don't know how. It's not really computer related so sorry but "off topic". Anyone seen the flick Antitrust? It's a corny film about a computer software developer (Tim Robbins) playing a role which seems to be loosely based on Bill Gates. In his office, he has a "four seasons" diorama that is one of the coolest decor ideas I've ever seen. Anyone who can give me some tips on how to make this work would greatly be appreciated! Thanks all!
