Following Alonso taking the championship for the second year running, I thought it'd be nice to put down on paper an idea for a case I've had for a while.

http://www.m4gnum.com/renault-f1/images/f1-pc.gif

Fear my mad graphic skills. Anyhoo, I thought I'd have a top air duct which would connect up to the power supply so that would always get fresh air. I'd also "round" off the edges of the case to make it look more streamlined. The top would be formed into much more of a curve but that's quite difficult to show from a quick scribble.

That bit down the side is another side pod, fresh air for the graphics card.

I think the side needs something else, I was tempted to put on a small side window to show the motherboard and maybe shine up the whole inside, carbon fibre the odd piece (don't got overboard) and generally make it look as though I have a team of 100 people and a £50 million budget...

Now, only 3 main problems:

1. I don't have a case
2. I don't have any components.
3. If you ignore the top two, how would I round out the top of the case (not inc. the air duct). It'd be too much for car body filler, so would I have to layer up some plastic to be covered?

I noticed in the UK Custom PC the "Reader's Drive" guy this month is also thinking about doing an idea like this following a Ferrari (boo) based case mod. I should point out I haven't nicked it from him, before anyone asks.

Hi, I think you can use an ASUS vento case, the desing is simmilar than a F1 car.

Well you could use the asus vento... but isnt it a bit too similar to the lambo mod (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2257) by MDCS? That might be just me though so if you dont think so then by all means go for it. I actually think you should anyways because as she has proven it is great for the mod you are thinking about attempting. In any case... check out her mod. Its FANTASTIC and you can probably get a load and a half of ideas just by reading through her worklog.

You can get wire mesh and form it in the shape you need then cover it with ?bondo? and sand it down. That might work? Heck, you could probaby do the entire case that way if you have patience and are dedicated to it. Hmm... I bet you could create a computer case that looks just like the car using that method??

I wonder whose car would win... Mine or yours? :devious:

Thanks for the ideas, but IMO the Vento case is seriously ugly.

I thought the same thing. Just wait until MDCS reveals her project. You'll think differently ;)

The lambo mod is certainly shaping up to be excellent, I don't deny it, but I really don't think I could use the vento case as a base.

Thats fine... you can always make your own case so you have your own specifications man. That would be super cool and super original?

Super difficult as well. But when did that stop us modders. NEVER.

Unless it got too difficult.

ROFL

You know whats really funny about that?

It's all true.

Keep in mind also though m4gnum, Simple can be better if designed properly. I guess that means you don't have to over work yourself or something. I haven't a clue, my teacher has always told me that I think too much and that I tend to skip the possibilities that aren't as obvious when you first start to ponder on something.

EDIT:

Oooh, I think I just thought of something for as of what I was trying to get at. I hear this quote ALL the time. It's actually kind of annoying, but it's good to hear I guess. Now if only my ears knew how to listen!

"Work smarter, not harder."

I wonder who first said that?
