I was going to get this one, but found out today that it's on backorder.

I'm looking for a 512 mb PCI Express x16 vid card. No SLI, suggestions would be helpful.

Looking for something from $200-450 price range.

If can't go the sli route you can get a gx2 which is a little slower but comprable. They are very expensive but not too far off from your pice range. Here is a cheaper one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814186001. If you're looking for just a single gpu setup though, any of the the 7900's should be plenty speedy.

Interesting, thanks. I decided to go with a 7950 from eVGA. Should work for now anyways. But I seriously might go with one of those dual gpu cards in the future.

Buying a new high-end card now is ABSURD.
Next month the nvidia geforce 8 series will be released and prices of current cards will drop. Plus, you will be able to buy an 8 series card which is DX10 compatiable and therefore far more futureproof!
Wait. Just for one month.

not even a month probably. hopefully they have stuff in stock on the launch date like for the 7 series. you can just expect to pay quite a bit for the first ones.

dont buy anything right now. just wait. the 8 series launch is in two weeks approximately.

I ended up with a BFG dual 7950 card. (Should be arriving tomorrow.)
