Firefox blows goats for rice in my opinion. I havent found anything in firefox thats better in IE. Sure there is tabed browsing but that doesnt do anything besides keep the task bar neat. The biggest problem i had was when i tried to code a website in firefox. The site would look fine in firefox but when you viewed it from IE or netscape even, the tables would be out of alignment and it would throw the whole site out of wack. I've coded sites in IE and they allways work as intended in any browser including FF. I could just use a cheat program like dreamweaver or another crappy program intended to make idiots look like experts. Call me old fashioned if you will but i use notepad and my BRAIN! to code websites. Sure it can be more time consuming but the end result is allways above par. Maybe they've fixed the problem in 2.0 but i see no need or purpose for FaggotFox browsers. And since IE comes with windows and is not removable, another program and folder junking up my program file seems not to justify the need for another browser that doesnt offer anything extra than IE.

1. You can remove IE 8)
2. In Firefox you can customize the browser itself
3. You can change the browsers performance
4. You can have your bookmarks on a task bar open for easy use
5. You can download add-on's from Mozilla i.e Foxy Tunes
6. IE is just so very very crap

for one thing... IE absolutely always gave me two popups when i opened it up. then i would get at least one popup for each website i visit.

with firefox.... my total popup count for the past... lets say 6 months.... has been two and those two were only because i clicked on something by accident.

plus IE doesnt have anything like equake from what i can tell. im into geology, and equake keeps me up to date on earthquakes around the world via the USGS.

Firefox has more community support, which means more plugins, features, etc etc.
Less security issues, exploits, natural popup blocker. Don't forget that since IE is tied into windows, it allows for more damaging exploits.
The only real downside is that eventually firefox starts to eat large chunks of system resources.

It has the ability of tabs and cool things like foxy tunes, That is pretty much the only reason why I keep it around.

Also it seems a bit faster than IE to me?

Oh yeah, and I USED to be able to have themes. I dont know what is up with that.

its absolutely awesome. im still stuck in school, but i know geologist. it involves travel, big machines and cool lab equipment, lots of money, and paid vacations and accommodations. geologist are cool. they're one of the only groups of scientist that drink for sport and party the night before final exams. plus you have to be crazy by prerequisite... who in their right mind would stand by a volcano, or rush to the site of an earthquake? works for me, so im doing it.

now as far as eating up system resources... i havent noticed that yet. maybe thats once you start loading up on plugins and crap. ive only got equake.

It's not plugins, it's tabs. I have a tendency to browse for a couple of hours a day and leave approx 15-40 tabs running so I can sort the info later. That has a tendency to eat some memory and processor speed.

Tabs, speed, plugins, support, security, skins, free, non-M$... seriously I have IE uninstalled. For some reason, that thing scares the hell out of me.

i use firefox mainly for looking at sites (like astalavista.box.sk) where the threat to IE is real, whereas the threat to FF is relitively little. i've never been browser hi-jacked when i was using firefox, yet with IE, i can't even count how many times it's happened. It's a real pain when you're working with pcs where the primary browser is IE as there are regular browser hi-jack attempts, some successful. it's just one giant security loophole.

I think the tabbed browsing is my favorite part of Firefox because when I'm reading something that has a lot of links right after another, like this site, I just click each of them with the scroll button and it opens in a new tab .

The best plugin for FF absolutely has to be NoScript; it stops all javascript on a site unless you allow that site. On top of that, I use Adblock to stop all ads from loading, including the ones on this site. I hope that ad service that contributes to this site pays whether or not poeple click on the ads...
