There aren't really any guides that I know of, per se. If you read Paul's book, I believe there is a section on building from scratch.

However, I built my case from scratch. Just determine exactly what you need in a case, then figure out how to make them in whatever material you're working with.

A basic case has standoffs for a motherboard, tapped for mounting screws. Also, a case has holes drilled (or in my case, a little "shelf") for the power supply. You'll also need holes cut out for the motherboard slots, and cages for the hard drives and CD drives.

Tybrenis pretty much covered it. If you where to be more specific, I may be able to help you. More specific as into what meteriel you would be using? Alot of people have worklogs of making scratch built cases from metal. If you go down to you're local hardware store, Alot of them throw out extra metal from cutting things. You can use that for building a case.

yeah, buy his book. ^_^ or go and look at anything hes ever done. dont aim that high though. i think cases that cool are reserved for people like Paul and like....um......Batman. Yeah, Batman. *shifty eyes* but in all seriousness, just make sure the parts are secure, not shorting out on anything metal that might touch them, and have fun. the whole point of scratch builds is not to follow a guide, but to to do what other havent. and if you have any questions, what so ever...Crimson's here for you. :D
