Anyone else see this? This seems to be the end result of a project that Lego worked on with SGI back when I joined the Advanced Graphics Division. The software their engineers were working on was a virtual reality environment with access to unlimited bricks. Just reach for one and it was there. Design the model and send it to manufacturing.

This is a great idea for budding designers. Build your model in the designer, upload it to lego, they bill you and send your model out in a new box...

EDIT: Oh and it is FREE!

I downloaded this about a month ago right before I moved back home. I havn't used it yet because I havn't set that computer up yet. I personally will use it to get missing pieces for some of my sets and maybe even rebuild some old classics that would cost a whole lot because they are collectors items now.

I really hope that they have some older castle pieces in the program.

There was a computer game like this when I was a kid but it was no where near as good. But it did have a lot of cool prebuilt stuff though. And you could animate vehiles and get them to follow paths.

It was called Lego Creator

http://www.lego.com/eng/interactive/product.asp?Title=Creator&Code=PC

It came in a special cd jewel case that had little lego nibs on the spine of the cover so you could attach lego bricks to it.
