What we need more specifically are your designs, what type of dragon theme is it and how does look. It is hard to suggest an idea because we won't know if it fits your theme, and there are thousands of dragon styles. Do you have any sketches?

i was into dragons for a while... and i downloaded all pics i loved from deviantart.. that's a great resource if you're planning some work the dragon way(bones, reptile skin etc) :) also, some plans.. might help us.. more drawings and descriptions help us all :)

One idea that I had considered for a mod but it would be a lot easier to do on the window you have already cut a window into...
Scales
Lightly cover the whole panel in bondo and simply scallop out scales all over it.

well, that skull looks like it was airbrushed with a good bit of patience and skill :P
painting ain't my thing, but all i can suggest is get some scrap metal or paper and a design and start practicing with an airbrush (oh yeah, get one of those too)

Hmm, have you thought of etching w/ acid? I've seen it done before and i have to say, it looks clean and professional. Anyways, I think a cool thing would be doing an etching in the plexi, and make the design "run off" into the case, just to make it look blended in with the case.

Nice dragon. The little bits of smoke coming out of his mouth is cute.
