Does any one know of a program which can tell me the status of a network printer. I.e. Is it on or not. As I am to lazy to go and check.

Is it connected to a network device or to a computer on the network?

It is a network device in itself. An ethernet cable runs from the router to the printer nothing in between.

Edit: Just realized that since it a network device I can just ping it.

lol I was getting to that. If its a common brand, like Linksys, they may offer some type of software to monitor it. That, or you could fine a open source software.

Yea, software isn't really necessary but what you're looking for is a network mapping software. If it finds the device, then it will tell you the IP and MAC. If it doesn't, then it probably isn't on.
Just looking up network map on sourceforge.net
