Forget about UV

I just had an idea which may be better than a UV setup... How about putting a blacklight in you computer? This way it would react with any white writing on you mobo/video cards, etc... Plus it would be a different color to change from the standard blue/red/green. Just imagine if you have one of those white motherboards :eek: 8) If I would do this though I would paint my case a color which would look extremely unusual with purple since purple is the way that any white writing would show up... (or any other colors the blackligh is highlighting) Paint it like green or something...

Reason I'm putting this here instead of doing it myself is that I do not have a window in my case and I have no time at the moment to put one. Even if I had time, I would not do this with my Antec Sonata though... too nice already in black... it would look funny in green. :think:

Isn't a blacklight just UV anyway? Unless there's a subtle difference that i missed.

"Black Light" is UV lighting. Same thing.

OK... well then you could still use a blacklight to change from the standard colors... Plus I didn't really notice UV lighting reacting that much with just white...

Anyways I'll try to find a junk case around christmas time or something so I can give it a try! Though I would need to rig up a connection for the blacklight which will most probably not just plug into molex... mabe leave one of my card slots open and run the plug through there... we'll just have to wait and see what I come up with when I try it out...

to really notice the reaction you need to be in a dark space.

there are also some more or less "fake" black lights that tend to just be a standard incandescent style bulb with what is called "wood's glass" as the bulb. these are awful at generating the UV rays for the glowing reaction

fluorescent black lights are the way to go. you can get a 48" black light tube from home depot for 15 bucks or so. make your whole room glow :p

If it is safe to play 'midnight bowling', Glow in the dark mini-golf, etc... or work in one of those places I don't see why this would be dangerous... well for a limited time exposure (say an hour or 2 a day or something?). or wear sunglasses with UV protection... 8) but then would you be able to see anything?

What the colored UV reactive stuff is is actually florescent dyes. if you'eve ever worn a flourescent orange shirt near a blue light source you sort of glow. It's cool.

Almost any bright shirt will glow next to a blacklight if it's been washed. It has to do with the detergent.
