Well, I'm a noob to this forum, but don't let that fool you.

I'm Chris, 17, and I work as a Network Administrator. I got a project computer I'm working on. It's kinda old, but still good.

Ol' Beater:
PowerUP case, clear side w/ 2 blue LED fans
Some old motherboard
Pentium III @ 855 Mhz lol
768 MB SDRAM (yeah, not DDR RAM)
Matrox GPU running at 1280*1024 (can run upto 1800*1440)
UltraV Series 350W Power Supply

Total Cost: $180

IBM Thinkpad T21:
stock

Total Cost: $300

Pics soon.

Ok thats the specs but what are you going to do to mod it. Theme it, Paint it, Make a new and exciting case from scratch?

Looking forward to your pics.

well I have in mind an Athlon 64 and a socket 939 board. I was also thinking about watercooling. You see, my motherboard won't accept my Radeon 9600 videocard, and that's another reason I'm gonna mod it.

I don't have the resources, or the time, to build a case from scratch. Though I do have an idea of what I'd want.

FIRST of all, I got that Nano Technology in that P3! lol :D

So far, I'm A+ certified. Working toward C++.

There's also a community project that sells homes called "Smart Houses." I worked with Catalyst Connections to build the prototype.
It's a house that's controlled by computers. You forget to turn off the water, the house turns it off for you, etc. It's a home for senior citizens. Bunch of cool features to make life easier for the old'ns.

Good news: I'm buying a new mobo, cpu and ram for Ol' Beater. That can only mean one thing...

A better name! I now dub it Die Wiederbelebung (That's German for "The Resurrection.")

After these mods, that'll mean that everything on Ol' Beater has been replaced, and is now not the same computer. Since I statrted from a cheap, but afordable setup, it'll now be better than ever.
