This is another distro of Debian Linux. Its pretty damn awesome. Makes the internet run 6 times faster (at least what it seems)

How does that work. Maybe it has a highly optimized protocols for the internet or maybe you just have cache turned on.

It looks like a good distro based on Knoppix but it is modular.

well, my BIOS is being a bitch. It keeps saying "no OS found" when I have clearly installed it onto my harddrive.

Sure you arent just using a live cd verison of it? Hmm some mobos cant relate to linux you may need a patch or a firmware update of some kind.

make sure you don't have some sort of non-bootable disk in a drive that's set to boot from :P

cd, floppy etc.

i lost track of how many times i've "fixed" computers with that

It may not be the bios since it is only looking for a file to bootstarp the system. In windows, this file is called the MBR or master boot record. This file is usually located in a specific location on the hard drive which the bios looks for. In linux there is a similar file, but it only redirects the bios to the kernel file (similar to what the MBR does). During the install of linux, the os will install this file and then use a boot loader (such as grub) to point to this file (grub is also smart enough to point to the windows MBR _if_ you tell it to). Then there is the issue of the disk partition being set as active and bootable. If any of these things is dorked up you will see that no os found message. If grub is dorked you may see a portion of the error "GRUB NOT FOUND" or something like it. On one of my systems that I screwed up the grub install on, the only thing your would see is: "GRUB NOT FO" and the system would hang.

Uh, I took out all the CDs and stuff and set the BIOS to start the HDD first after I installed Linux.

Also, I did install the loader file into the root of the HDD, which was an option for the HDD.

WOOT. I got Ubuntu linux working :D .
