Good brands (or so I hear...)

OCZ
Corsair (this one I can verify)
G.Skill
Kingston
Mushkin

Right now I have Corsair XMS2 (I know, I know, it's not what you need, but the regular XMS would work..) and it's great. I'll look around Newegg and see what I can find.

Edit: 1 gig Corsair (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145560)
1 gig Kingston (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134040)
1 gig GeIL (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144039)
1 gig G.Skill (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231036)

Those would all be fine choices. They are all 1 gig sticks, and all are relatively close to $200 if you buy 2 gigs.

Just about anything labeled OCZ would do you fine. I don't think I have really ever heard of a bad pair of OCZ Ram. They also have some pretty sweet heat sinks! If you can afford it, then go for the gold!

Hmmm, well that wasn't very helpful. lol sorry. There is so much ram out there, especially on newegg.com, it would take forever to look through them all to find the best pair for you.

If it helps at all, I have 1.5 Gigs of Corsair Value Select Dual Channel and comparing that with my family's and friend's systems, its a huge difference. They all have your basic 512MB-1GB non-brand name ram. So it might be just me, but I say anything that is better than Corsair Value Select is "good" Ram. Especially if you have 2gigs of it! ...but then again I am a cheap-o. Corsair Value Select Dual Channel will cost you around $70USD for 1gig.

Anyways, If you are serious about ram, go with OCZ or G.Skill or Mushkin. They all have a great reputations for being excellent ram. Corsair is a great brand too, but last time I checked the prices for their "good" ram it was more than I would ever pay.

as long as people are giving personal preferences, i recommend corsair or kingston. the kingston hyperx ram is bloody amazing stuff, and it has this nifty electric blue heat spreader :p

never used anything but those two brands, and never had any problem with either.
