I'm new to this forum so I did a search but couldn't find anything about what I'm going to ask next...................

I've modded nearly all my cases that I've put together and decided it was time for something different.

I'm planning to mod my computer table - basically fit a modded 'desktop' type frame under the table and then fit a glass panel into the table so that you can see the computer underneath - table top will be a custom shape also.

I've got all the ideas laid out but just wondered if anyone had done this and had links or tips or even your thoughts............

There are actually several that have done something like this, each execution that I have seen was different though. You can seriously learn from each effort.... I'll see if I can locate the links for the projects for you.

Yeah I remember that mod. But I don't think that we have seen the mod finished. I will search for it and post the URLs.

Here we go. I just put "desk" into the the search (it cannot be overemphasised how great this is). Any way the Mod is here (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138&highlight=Desk) . It has not been updated for a almost a month and I don't know how it went eventually but there are some good tips there if you want to check them off.

Thanks for the link but thats not what I'm thinking about - thats just a simple stick your case in a cupboard type of thing.

I want to build a flat (horizontal) desktop case under the table top and then put glass into the table top so that you can see the inside of the case through the glass

Man if anyone has an archive of POC.net there was a kickass mod on it. Was a desk built from aluminum and even made/built a keyboard out of aluminum, use the electronics from another keyboard but redid the keys in the same map, that was sweet :D

I *think* it was done by "web56n" I might be wrong.

I get what you mean, so u want both the desk and the computer to have a window. So u can see through to the comp while its out of the way...
Could turn out pretty good.

Gotta love that Case/Desk mod tho, ****e thats cool.

Yea web56n rocks :)

That is the comp I was talking about Pascs. I didn't find it on google in the 5mins I looked. I was to lazy :p

That comp is just built into the desk.

This is a simple drawing of what I'm thinking about with the clear glass in the middle between monitor and keyboard.

Okay I see what you mean. Well good luck with that. The only problem I can possibly see is the height that you will need for the computer below the desk. If you have a low desk then the computer could be a bit too close to your knees. One thing I think would be great though would be a way of channeling the excess heat from your computer to your feet as a footwarmer! (I know impractical but something I think we should look into). But seriously, can't wait to see how this mod turns out!

Part of the reason for going for the round end to the table is to keep the computer case far enough away from me that my knees will not hit it.......hopefully....and a slim case.

It is just something different to do instead of just a case mod - I assumed more people have done something similar but can't seem to find many examples.......

You will prob want riser cards to run addin devices at right angles, was a thread on here that had links to all diffrent types of them.

http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=418

That is if you build your own case for this project.

Edit: you could also use 1/2 height cards...

Thanks for the link......

I had been thinking about riser cards too.....probably only need one for the AGP though. I would like to have the AGP fan pointing upwards which probably means a flexible extender or making something myself.
