Here is a guide I wrote taken from my blog http://www.simonpearce.net

NOTE 1: This may be illegal in some countries consult local laws.

NOTE 2: in Australia is this technically legal at the moment so I am not breaking any copywrite laws.

Required Equipment

* PSP (Dah!)
* 1GB PRO DUO Memory Stick(I know they are expensive but you can get cheap ones made by Sandisk.)
* Computer
* DVD Drive (Can be bought for $25)
* A DVD movie

Required Software

* DVD Decrypter (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/)
* PSP Video 9 (http://www.pspvideo9.com/)

Install both the programs if you havent already.

Put the DVD into the drive (I will be using the Hunt For Red October staring Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin and Sam Neil)

Open DVD Decrypter

Depnding on the copy protection on the DVD you may have to crack RCE protection. DVD Decrypter will do this for you just follow the prompts

Once that is out of the way click on mode and select IFO

Next go to tools and then click on setting click the IFO tab then go to the drop down box next to file splitting and select none.

Next go to input on the right hand side and go through and deselect all the boxes next to chapters under the VTS's except the for the VTS which contains the PGC with the longest time in this case it is VTS-04. Also keep the boxes ticked for the one after the longest one in this case VTS-05.

Next click on the Stream Processing tab deselect everything except the Video and the AC3/2ch/(Language of Choice) as the PSP only has stereo speakers so there is no point in having 6ch sound.

Next on the right had side click on the folder icon and choose where to save the movie to. Once you have done that click on the picture of the DVD and the Drive and sit back and wait for the movie to decrypt this may take a while.

Once the movie has finished (a cute jingle should play). Now that we have the video off the DVD and onto the computer we now need to compress the video so it will fit on the memory stick and also change the format of it to mpeg-4.

Open PSP Video 9.

On the right hand side click on the setup tab. Then click on the profile picker tab at the top. Next from the down box labeled One-Click Profile Select "SP/320x240/29.97fps/768kbps Stereo/128kpbs". I believe this is the best compression ratio. Click save.

Now click the tab on the right hand side convert. Next click on "One-Click Transcode" button. Navigate to where you saved the file from DVD Decrypter and press open. Straight away the video should start transcoding. This process takes around two hours and puts a bit of strain on the system. Even if the the progress bar reaches the end it still may be transcoding so just wait until the program says it has finished.

Finally plug your PSP into your computer. Activate USB mode on your PSP in the settings menu (Scroll to the far left then up untill you get to USB. Now go bacak to PSP video 9 and click on the copy tab on the right select the video you have just transcoded and click the button "Copy Video to PSP". This should take a few minutes. Once that has finished detach your PSP from the computer and enjoy watching your movie on the go. (You may have to change aspect resolution of the video on the PSP to get it to look right).
