Hey Guys, I have a laptop sitting under my bed doing nothing which im hoping to fix up and use as a bit of a media center when away from home. The problem is it tends to switch off from i assume overheating! I think this could be a cooling issue so I wondered if anyone has any ideas of how i could modify it to be very cool but still be compact enough to transport. Also any ideas just to make it look a bit better would be useful. Any help/links/advice would be very greatly appreciated, Thanks

the biggest problem with laptops is that they're small. and you don't want to use something like watercooling 'cuz you're carrying them around, and water is heavy
i'd look at either cooling ducts or a laptop cooler - something like:

I just _fixed_ a friends laptop with this same issue. Opened every thing up and blew out all the dust bunnies. Not had a problem since. (he could have started his own herb garden with what I blew out of that system...)
