God made the world in 7 days, or whatever. I'm no theologian and im certainly no god.

...but i could prolly make a decent mod out of nothing in 7 days.

lol!

YES! DANG IT MAN! That is a great idea! Go for it! WOOT! I am rooting for you!

Talk about the modding spirit! Geesh... 7 days! This should be fun to watch. ^^

Just remember, it doesn't have to be fancy and expensive to be a true blue mod! But of course you should still try your best and not slap a few tree branches together with crazy glue. :p

God made the world in 7 days, or whatever.

ROFL, that was funny as hell.

Bah, I'm still sticking with MY theory of how the world was created.

A monstrous circus clown was sick at home one day with a bad case of the cold. He then created earth and all its inhabitants with a gigantic sneeze as a string of snot flew from his big red nose and hit a coffee grain on the table beside him. This was then wiped clean and thrown away into a garbage can where it proceeded to combine with other organic compounds that wish to remain anonymous at this time. In fact, This is how the "big bang" theory was created. The "Big Bang" was not so much as an explosion as most might think of it, but rather a very loud sound caused by the clown's mighty sneeze. As you can see, over time this has been confused and has recently been re-advised to how we know of it today. Scientist and Religious fanatics have in the past disapproved of this theory of clownanism, but I will say this and only this to you...

They are wrong and I am right. Deal with it.

Do I have an imagination or what!?

Did you guys watch that show over MTV where 2 crews are tuning cars in X days, and then a judge decides which is better?
Why not make something like that, using PC cases? :D

i dont have TV, but im assuming it was a "pimp my ride" derived show. i would not mind using their idea though. just find me a willing competitor and a judge who knows the differance between a scratch build and a stock mod. prizes wouldnt be bad either, but im motivated as is ^_^

That TV show is called Trick it out (and for some reason doesnt appear on MTVE :/ ), here, I'll link you up: http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/trick_it_out/series.jhtml#/ontv/dyn/trick_it_out/summary.jhtml

its actually been attempted a number of times, but theres simply not enough interest in it. I believe Mod My Machine (http://www.modmymachine.com/) was the most recent attempt.

But IRT, hey man go for it. Just let us know what you are doing :p

Wow a mod in 7 days. This is going to be verrrry interesting (not meant to sound negative lol) But ya, ide love to see what you come up with in 7 days, and ESIX's idea with the who ever can come up with a better mod in 7 days would be a pretty cool idea too

Yep, that highly depends on the crowd/scene. If there are some serious people in here that would be actually interested, that idea could work :)
Even if without prizes, just for experience :)

Well, originally the entire idea was simple and basically just that. i have stuff laying around, I'm going to mod it.

EDIT: IMPORTANT: I am looking for several tid-bits of information concerning my mod. It is currently a free-form mod, in the sense that there is no design, only parts. whatever i can get working properly, or improperly (http://www.hackaday.com/2006/11/09/analog-video-synth/)in some cases, will be employed. A list of "parts-at-hand" as well as a list of information required, such as pin outs, will be presented later this evening, as I have yet to retrieve most of the items.

Actually I think this is already a creation myth. Egyptian specificly. From the nose of Ra or some such. Wrote a paper on it a long time ago. I'll see if i can't find the references.

*edit*
on a more related note, a case mod of some sort of creation myth would be pretty cool. Any myth really. I believe in some Chinese myths everything came out of an ooze. Others usually have a superbeing which used physical body parts/secretions to create the world. A case could be based off a different mod. Do a series. It'd be a great long term or community project. Then get them all together (if possible) for a showing kind of deal. Would help push case mod noteriety/awareness as an art form?

*edit 2*
An egyptian myth involving Atum sneezing out a couple goddesses.
There's also a west african myth involving Nyame sneezing a few things into being.
Not to burst your bubble or anything. You're the first i've heard use a clown and coffee grounds though.

ZOMGORRZ UPDATE TIME!!11!!!!!shift1!

*ahem*

anyways, yes, update time.

case idea so far is this little make-up briefcase i got from an old roomie. it should fit the motherboard without problems after im done hacking it into bits. oh, and did i mention its clear?

i dont have a 2.5 HDD to standard 3.5 adapter so the laptop drive may prove to be a pain. if it was a female socket i could easily wire it up but i dont have anything that will fit in there other than something i likely threw out a while back. if anyone has ideas for low level formating a 30 gig Zen Xtra without plugging it into an ide adapter(use only the usb 2.0 cord), please let me know.

the lcd i wanna use is pointless in this mod, not like i would have found the pin outs anyways.

the psu and drives will likely be fit into a separate housing, theres no way ill get one of the available power supplies in there without electrocuting myself or the motherboard.

im thinking i have 2 options at this point. i can go with what i have so far, which isnt anything great. or i can go with plan b, using a different PC and a triple monitor setup to create an immersive gaming environment, but that would be less of a mod, more like creating a gaming area. i can bet its not what you think it is though.

feedback is much appreciated. keeps up them constructive comments!

EDIT: for anyone who's tuning in, my self assigned due date is midnight on the 5th of December. i wasn't even looking at the time or date when i made the original post, but if you look it was barely before midnight, so I'm counting the 29th as day 1. if I'm lucky, ill even have a day of rest.

ok, this due date got botched cuz i came down with something or other. i havent had a chance to fire up the dremel in 2 or 3 days, they all kinda run togheter it seems. anyways, that does not mean i wont get back to this. it just means the 7 day idea is dead. but the mod is the important part, right?

Real Update: Got my Asus board fitted for the case, decided 633 on my old Celeron was not good enough so I OC'ed to 902, then decided that was still not good enough and found a Celeron 900. That Celeron proved to be much more useful, as it is currently running at 1.2 with a FSB of 133. I think having twice the mhz i started with, at no extra cost, is quite nice. After the bios was configured, XP Home installed flawlessly. The only software related things other than that will be stress testing using Sandra Lite. Pictures would have been taken, but its not my camera, and really, who wants to stare at a picture of my Asus Celeron MB?

EDIT: Heres some pics of the cases, PSU, and that tan Asus MB i spoke of.

I may have found a use for this system. The case isn't finished, but the system itself is up and running.

Thats my roommates 4 year old son playing sonic the hedgehog. I'm thinking if I network the pc, and just have the PC load the emulator and rom on start up, changing the file remotely when he wants a differant game, itll be better than dragging out my actual genisis, nes, snes, etc.

Cool, It'll be great to see one done in a rush.

And isn't there something similar to the 'Great Sneeze Big Bang theory' in the Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy?

Just to check if the system was not fried i loaded ubuntu and then swapped out the single drive for 2 drives which is basically my media server that runs XP home. it seems t orun fine, i even removed the game port and the printer port, cuz who needs em anyways?

Looking good, does the I/O panel not interfere with the hinges?

AKA_RA
03-04-2007, 05:53 PM
yes, it does. -_-

the I/O Panel goes right where one of the hinges goes. But now that ive removed the game port and parallel port i may be able to figure out a way to reinforce the I/O panel in that area and mount a hinge there.

I posted pics in haste cuz i was tired after all that work.

The case is a makeup case from my younger sister. Theres actually 2 of them, and im using the widest part of each. I'll be working it more today so there should be more pictures coming up, hopefully before before 3am. sorry the last ones took so long :D
