...the video game controller. Note how they have to explain that you hold the "Wii-mote"....thats hold the remote AND don't let go of it (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wiiplay.jsp), for he love of all the is right in this world, do NOT let go. Apparently, that is a sure way to fail miserably at holding onto your game controller.

What happened to the care free days of hurling your gamepad towards inanimate objects? possibly cursing and spouting blasphemous remarks? Are these days lost forever? I mean, its always been the controllers fault that you lose, but why are we making websites (http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/) about it these days?

By the way, speaking of the Wii, do you think Nintendo hired some designers from Apple? :D

most definitely. white plastic has found a place in many peoples primarily darker colored plastic/wood environment. I.E. their entertainment centers. although, i actually like the contrast.

Haha. One of the kids at my school brought his Wii to school and was playing it on a projector (so no moniter was hurt) but the strap broke and the Wiimote flew into a whiteboard at out school. Nothing was damaged, luckily.

hmm, sounds fun. ^_^
but it must have been hard to track the Wii-mote as it flew across the classroom due to the whiteboard. lol.

Haha. I get the joke, but he wasn't too horribly far from the whiteboard (10ft or so, that's 3 meters for you metric people)

It was still funny, watching a Wiimote fly like that.

so who was in the class when it hit? i would love to hear the reaction of the teacher, what did they think about the unintentional assault on their white board?

Well it was just a bunch of seniors, me (a sophomore) and the teacher at lunch, the teacher didn't mind too much but it did suprise most everybody.

I'll praise Nintendo Customer Support to the high heavens. The only time I've ever come across a company that came close was scan.co.uk, who are amazing with their customer support. So are play.com, but Nintendo still wins, for twice replacing my game cube out of warranty.

Gentlemen, I have some very disturbing news...

And words can't describe it.

See for yourself...

If the Wiimote can break screens, this could kill a loved one or something.

Now thats just disturbing. Why not put a Desert Eagle on the Wiimote?

DaveW

I think nintendo have a whole horde of things like this lined up-plastic things you can clip onto the wiimote to give yourself that extra but of immersion. I have to admit, it's an idea i like. I also think you can plug other things into the bottom, not just the nunchuck, so maybe a desert eagle with a light gun attachment isn't far away, along with other things like it.

It's a gimmick that could make them a lot of money, but at the same time, no-one wants a house full of expensive gimmicks! I can see there being a few successes and a lot of failures.

True.
They'd have to first figure out how to make the Wiimote not fly around and break things, and then add stuff to it. IMO.

If I get a Wii... I'll take a strong, yet fashionable leather glove and use some strongly woven string to attach a properly positioned "holster" to the glove. Add some Velcro at the opening to seal it off and the problem of neighbors complaining about skinny white "UFO's" flying past their windows is solved.

Or you know, you could always use the controllers in case you don't like that idea right? I didn't even know they had actual controllers until I looked up the wii and saw what looked like advanced SNES controllers.

The Nintendo Wii is also backwards compatible with GameCube. Meaning you can plug GameCube controllers into the Nintendo Wii.

Btw, does anyone know what the hell Wii stands for or did they just pull that out of their ass and call it good?

Wii, is a supposedly complex word. Its unique spelling emphasizes the unique features of the gaming system, while the pronunciation encourages group activities, or togetherness...or something like that. At least thats what Nintendo said. I think they should have stuck with Revolution.

EDIT: btw, you could always just hold onto the controller.

Hahaha! Yes. :p

Amen.

I believe the two 'i's in the name stand for... two persons.
That's why (I would think) the 'i's bend as-in-thanks in the tv commercials.

Wii !!!!
Wii!!!!

I laughed for about 40 minutes when /. ran the Revolution/Wii name change.
The +5 Funny comments were... hilarious.

I think they should have stuck with Revolution.

I agree, but I believe there was a good reason for it wasn't there? I can't remember, but I think it had something to do with the translation of that word in japan and meaning something not so great or something like that. :?

EDIT: btw, you could always just hold onto the controller.

I would like to minimize the chance of me breaking something as much as I can. I have a tendency to break things... alot of things. lol

Some of you have seen pictures of my computer... Yeah...
