Soft for screen capture

Hey can any one tell me a good program that can be used to record screen activity for a project I am doing in my own time. I need it so I can focus the veiw in on the fly without creating multiple videos.

Edit: I would prefer a freeware one with out a watermark
Edit: I tried Windows Media Encoder as a friend pointed out it could do screen capture but it takes a big bite out of computer performance when recording
