Hello all, it's my first post here!
I was just curious, for those stripped for cash and lacking constant income, what do you do for your computer money? Pick up extra jobs wherever you can find them? Rob banks? Be the carrier for your senile grandmothers heroine addiction?
What do you do?

I have a bad habit of spending my money on extremely useless stuff, however I just got a bank account so I think that said spending will be reduced.
Anywho, I just do more chores around the house and get paid for my help, especially because my dad is starting to ache more and really appreciates my help when it comes to chores and the like.

Hmm, that's all good.
Anyone ever thought of modding a case and flipping it on ebay? Or anywhere else you could sell one? If it was practical, as long as you could still sell it for a profit after the cost of the supplies etc... labor could be negligible, you have to start somewhere.....
Anything else you could do?

Anything else you could do?
Depends on how badly you want the money lol.
Selling blood, medical testing, eating nothing but Ramen for a few months, take on another job, lemonade stand, just to name a few.
BTW, only a few of those were serious. Unless you want to do medical testing or have a lemonade stand.
But about selling a case on eBay; While it sounds like a great idea, if you make a case and nobody looks on eBay for a modded computer case (something probably not many people are looking for) your stuck with a modded case, and nothing inside it, and you're out that precious cash you were looking for in the first place.

No yea, thats exactly what I was thinking, there are only like 3 cases on ebay, stock, so obviously no one is looking. Probably a bad idea to start with unless people knew about your cases.....

why not make a website advertisin your cases then sell it to some one on ebay could be the start of ur own business or you could sell ur soul :)
get a job.
but selling your soul is also a viable alternative.
(i never got paid to do chores, lucky)

i think two big questions you have to ask yourself are:
1) what skills do you have?
2) how old are you?
keep those two things in mind because obviously you should try to make money at what you are capable of doing well (if you can paint really well, sell paintings or something). secondly, your age comes into play when making money, and its a double edged sword. the good thing is that you may be young enough to avoid income tax, and the bad thing is that people dont take youngsters seriously.
so have a good think for a while. it looks like none of our ideas are 100% satisfying right now... so maybe you can answer your own questions if you keep those two things in mind.

Ahh well I actually do have a good amount of selling experience, selling things both that I've created and otherwise... Also just because I don't have a consistent cash inflow doesn't mean I'm a "youngster" nor am I "seasoned veteran". Certain circumstances in life don't always allow other commitments regardless of age.
I guess I wasn't really trying to focus this on ideas for me, more trying to start a "group brainstorm" for those lacking finances despite their situation.

Well i know where your coming from. I grew up on wellfair and was allways straped for cash. It wasnt untill 2 years ago that i finaly got a break with a decent job that paid way more than it should. The only real question you should be asking and working off of is "how bad do you want money". Within that guide line, there are lots of ways to make money. You'll have to deceide where and how far you'll go but i'll list some of the ways i made money. Some are questionable, some are semi-illegal. Here are some ways which could get you some cash.
1. Sell drugs (this is the illegal one, i live in BC where pot is semi-legal, i sold my buddies pot while he was on vacation and made $350)
2. Barter & trade (buy or trade for somthing and sell it for more than you paid. I bought 2 home stereo's one for $150 with surround and one for $15 because it was "broken". I fixed the broken one and sold the other one for $140, then i sold the surround for $40. $30 proffit and a free stereo which i could sell for another $150 "asuming i needed the money more than the stereo")
3. Change... (not many people care about pocket change and are willing to give it up if you make then believe its for good. Dig into your piggy bank, check the sofa, return that shopping cart, take back empty bottles. Change really adds up after a while. I'm also pretty good at poker and play for change with friends.)
4. The dreaded job... ( if you find a good one, there'll be some perks. Perks i get are, copper and aluminum scrap i return for big cash, lighting and water fixtures are expencive in store so i sell them for a reduced price which is all profit, I get lots of modding stuff also.
