Just a thread for all the modded stuff that I do. (Usually minor stuff, but you never now)

Flashfire Controller now has a nice red glow inside :) (damn you gray plastic!)
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/7323/flashfireuc2.jpg

My mouse now glows blue, like a spaceship. (Again that darn gray plastic :( )

This is the thing Im gonna use for my next project, GA-6WMMC7 w/ P3 733.

I like the controller.... looks sweeet.

I think you've inspired me to mod my xBox controller... I like it!
Also, the mouse is pretty cool. :)

What do you plan to do with the GA-6WMMC7 w/ P3 733?

I didnt really come up with a idea yet.
Its Micro ATX, so its like, medium size.
I had one idea, but if I do it, i dont think I'll be able to put in the HD/CD drive.

Micro sounds interesting enough.

What are your plans?

I've always wanted to make a small computer for my car... big hdd, with all my mp3s... touchscreen... and a front/rear/center/sub outputs.

I dunno... don't listen to me.. you'll probably ruin your system. :p

Ha! No, really. Let us know what you do!

What I dislike about this board is that it doesnt have a AGP slot, so theres not TV output. And all I have are AGP cards.

So its going to be like a mini-server of some sort. I'll keep you guys updated about the whole idea, going to take a look at it tomorrow morning.

but it does have integrated graphics right, I mean, otherwise it would be next to useless :p

Nice mods btw, I like the controller, looks sweet, props.

ESX Portalight Worklog :)
Just to keep myself busy with something.
---------

The victim, a car-lighter-powered light.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/6117/1rj6.jpg

Taking all the parts off the light, soldering the LED and finding the USB cable in my messy table.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/8294/2yj3.jpg

Soldering it all together, and its READY! J/k, this was the test phase, to check everything was working properly.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/6932/4gb8.jpg

Stuffing the USB cable inside.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/671/5zc9.jpg

Putting the LED inplace, securing it with heat-glue.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/1447/6ma7.jpg

Final product.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/9213/7an1.jpg

Oh my gawd! It works! Not as bright as it could be if I had more LEDs but it sure does work :)

One more Try.

This is how it looks like:

Conclusion
-----------
It was a fun thingie to MOD/Re-do, but could be a lot better :)
Its light is enough to light the keboard a bit while its dark, or let you see what CD you're putting in.

Ok, so before you say "This sucks, go home" lemme tell you this little story:
It all started with the flame engraving with the dremel, then painting it all black, and then what I've wanted to do is kind of a chilly effect, like icy stuff to highlight the flames... Basically, my cyan paint is too thick (how can I make enamel paint thinner? Zynolyte MIDGET Enamel to be exact) so I accidently (not exactly accidently, I just have no friggin idea how to paint) screwed the painting proccess.
Anyways, I decided to continue with the destruction, cus I'll have to sand it again anyway, and this is what I've came up with:
http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/1774/mouse****tp4.jpg

If you dont remember the theme I am aiming for, its Cryonics and Cryogenics, and this doesnt quite fit (apparently :P ).

DaveW

That's actually a kind of cool effect, but the white bit at the bottom ruins what could be passed off as deliberate. It kinds looks like correction fluid. ;)

Thats actually cyan ;)
Would've looked better if I knew how to make the paint thinner :)

Hmm cool. It kinda reminds me of rock art as it has a rough surface. Nice I like it.

Edit: The buttons look like they are made of wood.

AJ@PR

How about mixing the paint with a little bit of thinner? To "thin" it out?

I like the mouse... it looks like it might bit you. lol

ESX
12-19-2006, 10:16 AM
Well its enamel paint so I dont know if regular thinner works

In that case, I would give you two cookies...
And you'd have to start a HowTo -- ESX's Exploding RadioActive Cloud Mod

Please, do take pictures!!!! :D :D

Since you are doing a cryo theme, I think that texture you have could look like a pretty convincing frosted surface. Why not spray it in bright pure white with some very faint light blue accents and see if it looks like ice?

ESX
12-19-2006, 01:46 PM
I lack white color atm :/
Besides the repaint, you can see that I've added two holes at the bottom part of the mouse, those are going to be lighted and Im going to put some mesh in them.

Here it goes, the new style :)

Except looking like rust (wanted it to look like it) it also looks like blood! wow! :D
http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/2876/bloodum2.jpg

Bloody hell! Thats not gold btw, just the red paint glow.

Not very clear, but this is how it looks from the top.

personally i dont think the mouse looks bad at all
i dunno if u were going for the effect but personally i think it would look better sanded i love the vents, u could put a lil 40mm fan in it to run it off of the usb line i think you could increase the voltage to from 5 to twelve, i made a circut like that once i dont memeber how u do it though

I believe they are asking how you switched the Red LED to a Blue LED in your previous post.

-Cool-

ESX
12-23-2006, 04:29 AM
Oh :p
Well, thats easy, you take your soldering gun, use it to take out the red led, and then solder a blue one instead of it.
I think theres a guide for this somewhere.

mercerman318
12-24-2006, 01:52 PM

Excellent work on the mouse.

Sorry to take it slightly off topic. Don't you have to worry about the voltage for the LEDs? I've got some purple LEDs that I'd like to swap with the blue ones on my Antec P160, but I've never really dared use it.

I've never really understood electronics, and I don't fancy blowing it all up.

Case leds are safe to change, because they are getting around 3V already.

Whisp made a litlle walktrough (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=642)(if I remember well he stole it from me at that time...maybe, or it came out from a discussion we had) for Leds and resistors
