I will be building a new computer with the theme of a Hot Rod's engine compartment full of power and chrome as well as a kick ass clearcoat paint job.

conceptual Idea pictures:

Outside rigs color - The color i was thinking of is a chameleon paint job that turns 3 differant colors as you view from differant angles or CANDY APPLE RED not sure yet.

The Case - I ordered this today from newegg ( yes i could save 30 dollars or more form other sites but newegg is well newegg :) )

My vision for inside the case -

I am wanting the inside of my computer to feel like the look of a show cars engine - all chrome and what not, with White type lighting to show it off

instead of the UV glowey stuff

a painted PSU I found maybe incorparate it?

---------------------------------

Well there is my conceptual plan... I have my case ordered... its on the way
I will be doing a total deconstruction on the case for painting and rebuilding it ... so ill get pictures of the paint job process up soon ... I fully expect 6 weeks until I am finished with this phase as my time is limited and I want to do it all from start to finish

Project Estimate : 4 - 5 months

Any ideas on getting that custom chromed hot rod look inside the case would be appreciated...

Sorry, you painted that PSU like that? Cause if you did, WOW, it looks pretty damn good. I like the grill and the red to orange fading around the line.

not that particular one ... but would not be hard to do just time consuming .... I was thinking more silver/chrome Red or blue flake type paint job for this PSU to go in mod

All ears ... :) help encouraged and welcome ...

I want it to be something someone looks at and goes dam that looks good ...
it looks like the engine compartment of a "hot rod" heh

so parts ideas and internal layouts are all welcome as it is a daunting process to me but one I look forward to doing :)

lol, I was gonna say, looks like that PSU came from dutch's BaDassumption, but thats just a guess ;)

Anyway sounds like a good mod, you could proably make the wires look like spark plug wires or something pretty easily. And isn't chameloen paint like $200 a pint?

EDIT: My bad, thats the heat sensitive stuff thats $200 a pint (http://www.alsacorp.com/products/eclipse/eclipse_price.htm)

will be about $180 in paint and supplies for painting the case not using that paint the process is time consuming and involves multiple layering

Well, You're budget is big. I read an worklog of defyant, and he made his resiviour as a NOS Bottle, and I think that was the coolest thing ever. Go watercooling and do the nos bottole thing. Alot of muscle cars use NOS for the record at the quarter mile.

real muscle cars dont need NOS :P

seriously though i think that the air cooling route would be best for the look
I am going for ... plus using this i think will look great and be more in line with the theme...

Anyone have any ideas for some scoops around those side air intakes for the GPU's?

You need hundreds of thousands of dollars if you want ur muscle car to pass 9 secs in the quarter mile without nos. Heres my idea for aircooling.

Buy a Air Filter, the ones without injection or nothing. The one under the hood picture you showed above. So basicley, Cut the inner fins and empty out the inside. And stick a fan inthere, but the outside still looks like an air filter. Perfect air filter fan.

And maybe you can do something with a supercharger idea. Out the top of the pc, Have like a supercharger just bulge out. Thats sick.

I like that idea :)

I think a zalman 120 with a custom air filter cover for your processor would simulate the engine well. Wrap all the cords in aluminum pipes(A/C) or black solid heatshrink tubing to simulate a distributor. Your connectors should be the same color as your wiring, so keep that in mind.

I still say stay away from watercooling on this one. I think this would look better and maintain a better feel with air.

If you really want it to look like a show car, paint the interior a single color. You've mentioned that you have access to a paint shop, get them to do it. It will make the internals look correct if you do anything lighting or have a window.

What an over exaggeration. It can easily be done with $30k

$30k to pass 9 seconds? Good luck with that.

572 Big block, twin turbos.

Anywho, can you give the side of the case, near the scoops, some contour lines like on the hood of that Cobra; maybe a black pinstripe?
