Im new to modding but, I think if im going to start modding I need to start small. Preferably a mouse mod. http://www.kkit.dk/admin/billeder/1096581027_logitech%20wheel%20mouse%20u48%20usb%20 sort%20compaq%20logo.jpg
This is a old mouse I had lying around. What could I do to this?

Aww yes I've downloaded the video. I just want to make a comfortable mouse o.o And to be honest I can't produce that kind of mouse right now. I also need those supplies that he is using. ( I have some of them )

The question that you should ask yourself isn't "what could I do to this?" but instead, "what do I want to do with this?"

You could pretty much do anything to it.

To be honest I REALLY don't know what I want to do with it. I just need some suggestions and maybe I will be inspired.

Start simple and work up. Try taking it apart without breaking it and then paint it. Add an led or two.

Yes I've already taken it apart. When I look at led's in mouses they look a bit hard to make. http://www.overclockers.com/tips967/insideleds.jpg
Im not sure what to do :S Is it really that hard? (BTW that's not my mouse)

hmm, theres really not that much you can do with a mouse. You can go the alienish route like the tutorial. Or change it up and completely rebuild the caseing. Other thatn that maybe a nice paint job? Take it all apart (just don't loose anything!), lay it all out, give it a few coats of paint, maybe wet sand it if you want with some 2000 grit sandpaper. Then give it about 5 layers of clear coat. If you want you can wet sand again and then polish it.

Other than that you could also install a window, I think theres a tutorial over at gruntville on how to do that: Theres also a nice worklog of them painting one too. Here are the links.

Yeah a new paintjob would be nice. An idea popped to my head after I posted something about the mouses comfort. The idea of installing ultra comfortable grips is the idea and I plan to install those soon.

I'm actual on a different wave length on this.. there's tones of stuff you can do to a mouse :D

Let's see, you have a ball mouse? well... that cuts some space inside... you could add: a window to see the "guts", a fan to cool the mouse/hand and/or resistors to heat the mouse, lights to.. light it, maybe a small lcd? basicly, you could add even add switches or buttons from a usb keyboard with some cable modding ;)

i would recommend you buy a nice mouse before.. oh, yeah, paint and finish is also essential :) don't be discouraged by the complexity of your dreams.. try it on scrap :) good luck :)

What about a cell phone vibrate mechanism to make a rumble mouse?
