Hello all u fellow modding enthusiasts, this is 1 of my first ever mods.
Well its not really a computer mod, but it has something to do with a computer.
It is a USB flash drive mod, specifically the case, I am using a old piece of Lego (from some under sea adventure thing. i saw a fey lego cases n i thaught y not make a lego flash drive, so i serched instructables, and there it was.
Because I wasn’t if I could do it and still have the drive work, I used a old mp3 player. Which I used as a flash drive all last year.
this is a photo of teh top of the case , as u can c i had to extend the peice as the card of my flash drive was to big for 1 blok.

i used a black contackt adheasive called shoe goo. this is used to repare hloes in shoe's but as it is a sealent aswell as a adheasive , i thaught it yould work wel.
i will get back and finish this projesct once the glue is dry(taked about 4 hours)

Looks cool, but its a bit messy. You shouldn't have glue oozing out. Try super glue, Its a very thin liquid.

yeah this was just a first run to test weather ot not it would work the next 1 will be cleaner and i will try to use a hole peice of lego instead of destroying 5 bits to make 1. cheers for the tip on the super glue might b easyer, i tryed to fix it up but for a first try i like it :D

I'm really not trying to be an ass dude, but seriously. It was hard, nay impossible, to read anything you typed. I know shortcuts make life easy at 2AM, but seriously, TRY (for OUR benefit) to spell some things correctly.. It will help in the longrun!! Other than that, your mod is cool. I'm a huge lego fan, and I would like to see something like that on the market. I agree that the glue would need to be cleaned up a touch though..

i realise your not trying to b a ass but i try to spell every thing right prob is is i have a sevear learning dificulty n to spell stuff corect i need some 1 else to corect it , n that takes to long. glad i liked it , i will b posting 1 with a purple led in it soon, probably done late at night also lol , cheers for the encoragement dude means alot

I sadly have to agree with Minty about the first post, but you seemed to have improved in your following post, so clearly thats not an issue.
I like to see how many different things people are putting flash drives into. Recently I saw a PEZ dispenser thumb drive, that was a nice one. Cheers for using LEGOs in a fashionable way, regardless of the oozing glue. ^_^

My girlfriend is the same way, my role is "David, how do you spell such-and-such". Every 30 seconds, on cue. I understand it can be pretty difficult to keep your confidence when people start pointing out errors in your writing, but don't lose heart. 2 things that might help you:
1) Firefox 2 has a built in spell-checker, which although primitive, may be useful.
2) Try using a program called Dasher (http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/dasher/SpecialNeeds.html), then copying and pasting what you write through it. Although it takes a long time to get used to, it can really help you to form grammatically correct sentences and improve your written communication skills. Although she doesn't know it yet I'm going to teach my girlfriend how to use it in the hope that it helps her to use the internet properly.
Thanks for sharing the mod man, keep up the good work :)

When I Upgraded from Firefox 1.x.x to Firefox 2, it was as if God himself was smiting Bill Gates for my personal amusement. The features are so nice and the add-ons just make it better. Now i can use big words to sound smart, and spell them right while I'm attempting to do so. ^_^
Though, I had to add quite a few words to its dictionary specifically for these forums.
...and to reiterate...
Nice data stick, keep up the good work. If getting bored makes you do that, then maybe we should put you in solitary confinement for a week and see what you come up with. ^_^

theres no need to point out errors if u understand what they mean.

That's opinion really, i would rather be corrected than continue being wrong and possibly humiliated.

A great idea, and a good effort. I think it's a bit messy and needs a bit of cleaning up, but overall it's a cool concept and I think that if you tried it again, took your time, and used perhaps a solvent glue or even superglue, it could be a cool mod.

Well, for LEDs you just have to visit your closest electronics store, about modding stuff, Im not quite sure, but I remember seeing an australian website for that stuff.

Hehe this is similar to a flash drive my friend and I made just 3 days ago. We put a 256 meg flash drive into a 3 dollar Optimus Prime toy. We call him Optimus drive.
The idea is cool, but it does seem a little sloppy. Nice job for a first time though.

Yeah
"http://www.pccasegear.com/"
has lots of good stuff most things you need mod wise you can get here.
For those hard to find items I use an modding supplier in the US that ships internationally
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php
The only and best place to buy all your wiring and led needs is
http://www.jaycar.com.au/
They have stores all over the place.
Dick Smiths also carry's leds and all that plus a little bit of modware just flexiglow stuff so cold cathodes and maybe a led fan or two they usually have stuff-all in stock.

I realize that you're not trying to be an ass, but I try and spell everything right.
Problem is, I have a severe learning difficulty. To spell stuff correctly, I need someone else to correct it, and that takes too long.
Glad I liked it. [Glad you liked it.]
I will be posting one with a purple LED in it soon... probably also done late at night. lol
Cheers for the encouragement dude, means a lot.
(I had 3 spare minutes. :) )
FrankFurt3r,
I like the mod!
Nice.
Got me thinking...
I'm going to buy a memory stick, so I can use it for a mod.
Hmmm... maybe a pack of floppies thick enough to 'contain' the memory stick.
Floppies... 1GB... USB... hmmmm...

Great idea for a mod bud. Don't sweat the grammatical errors, practice makes perfect. Look forward to seeing what your next attempt looks like.
