Noticed that Rep points are tailing of recently. Keep these flowing guys, don't be afraid to hand them to everyone and anyone you see being productive!

lol, I've actually just started handing them out in the last week (I'm a bit slow to catch on to these new fangled systems sometimes).

I've almost given up on the whole idea alltogether.
For getting rep:
Thoes who know me, know i rarely post garbage and allways give advice to the best of my knowledge. I feel i need no points and generaly wouldnt seek to increase my position on the reputation ladder.
For giving rep:
I havent found many if any at all who deserve a rep point from me from my point of view. Not that there arent people who honestly deserve them, but rather, no one has helped me in such a way which would entice me to give them a reputation point.

Happy now? lol
Actually I usually only hand them out either when a person gives me a lot of help with a particular question or when they do great work logs. Gotta earn em! That I suppose, is also in the eye of the beholder for who has earned what. ^^
I'll give you some points though Dave for being an awesome moderator and just because it is the holidays. But don't expect to get any more so easily from me in the future! ;)

You're not really supposed to give them people who do you favours...you're supposed to say "Hey, i like his mod, + rep. Or, wow, he's helping a new guy with good advice, +rep. Bad Reps for bad posts and being disruptive.

Yup, you got to earn them. But a lot of people have been earning them, and not getting the rep they deserve. For example, tribaloverkill and willetfx should have huge reps for the work they do and post, but people aren't handing out points for this.

Out of curiousity, is this because you feel it has somehow failed you? That your current rep doesn't portray your personality and abilities? Because i agree, i started this thread to encourage people to hand out reps when they get advice, or hand out reps when they see someone giving good advice. People like you aren't getting the rep they deserve.
It's just that, for the last month, the Rep system was working really well, and then it almost completely died. Maybe it's being undercut by the old post count system? Would you like to see the post count system removed? We value your opinions on this stuff, and while i'm doing a lot of work setting up TBCS for the future at the moment, this is useful to know about.
Thanks!

I've been handing them out very gradually, I didn't want to over do it. As of right now, it seems that few people are using the system. I'm sure as we see more and more points getting handed out, it'll work just like a basic economy. The more you have the less one Rep point is worth, therefore people are more likely to hand them out.

As my votes are worth 5, i feel like i personally am deciding everyone's individual reputations. It's why i want you guys to embrace the system more, it's like 1 man, as many votes as he likes at the moment. I've only seen people really use the system when someone pisses them off, and they slap out some bad points.

I have noticed that the higher rep users are handing out the most points...

Thanks for the reminder!
Go forth and spread the good word! To help get this across, i want to make it ok to let people know you're giving them good rep. At first we were against this idea, but now it might be worth saying "Nice mod, +rep" in your post or something, to remind other users that they can do this.
Obviously this isn't a requirement, it was something we didn't allow, but in retrospect it might be useful to fully instate the system.

I don't know what I've done to get any, but I have it.

I'll stop being sooo greedy with my reps and hand out more. I like the rep points better than post counts. It is nice to see how busy people are on the boards, but anyone can post a t-shirt link...

I know there was a bunch of mods were i wanted to give some rep points to the artist, but i wasn't sure when i was supposed to give them out. I was afraid of giving out to many or to freely.

How many reps can we hand out in one day? (good or bad...)
I still haven't gained any. But I don't know if I've done anything to deserve more anyway.
A user can hand out 15 reps in a single day.
You can't rep the same user twice. You must rep another 3 users before you can rep the same user again.
Unless Dave changed it, that's the current info.
DaJe, don't worry about it. Be nice to the guys that need help, be informative and the reps will come. No worries.
