Anyone ever have a problem wet sanding Krylon? Here's the deal......

I hit the case with one coat of primer, sanded, then hit it with a second and sanded again. Sprayed four color coats (Black Gloss), let it cure for 24 hours then wet sanded the color coat with 1500 grit sandpaper. Sprayed four more color coats with the intention of wet sanding with 2000 grit, polishing, clear coating and hand glazing. So here's the problem.

When I hit the second round of color coat with the 2000 grit sandpaper, the finish looked pretty scuffed up. I don't think polishing alone is going to smooth it out, but I could be wrong. I didn't get a chance to polish it up tonight. Anyone else ever have the same problem? Anyone see anything wrong with my process? If so, let a brother know. This is my first attempt at working the rattle can. Thanks for any insights...............

Only thing I can think of::: was the second round of color coat dry enough?
Like, for 24 hours or something?

I'm unsure...

Yes, the second coat had also cured for 24 hours. I'm going to try to polish it up over the weekend to see if it removes those fine lines and scratches. I'm hopeful, but we'll have to wait and see.

You should ask crazybillybob about this, he knows all about painting.

Ok, Ok, I know I'm slacking because I haven't posted any pics. There are so many good worklogs on here tho, that I really didn't want to start one for a mere paint job. Even tho it is my first (sniff sniff) and does have a certain sentimental value I guess. I'll snap some pics and post in this thread once I get back in the shop this weekend.

Thanks for the info JD, I'll pm Billybob if I can't get it right.

We don't mind, hell my first worklog was nothing more than a paintjob.

Ok then, I'll start a worklog for my paint job. I took some pictures along the way, but not quite enough. It'll give you guys some idea of what I'm referring to. I'll post it this weekend. Thanks for the advice, insight, and encouragement.

Nice paint job on your case JD.....
