I've been thinking about painting my case in a tie die/psychedelic patter similar to this http://www.asapshirt.com/images/TDMCtee.jpg
Unfortunatly i've only done basic case modding and no painting at all.
Does anyone have any ideas on how i would go about doing this?

Also, is it possible to have one side of the case entirely acrllyic rather than aluminuim with an acrllyic window in it?

dude, awsome idea! if u can pull that paint job, max respect from me :) and yess, you can have a full acrylic side.. just have to change the mounting system.. not those flimsy rails but maybe some screws, nuts and some hinges maybe?

That paint job is easy-peazy!
First you need to twist your case into a really really tight spiral, now use rubber bands at random points along the spiral. You want to use 2 or 3 rubber bands and make sure they are really really tight. You could also tie it with cord or twine.
if you want a different little splash of color inside, twist the hard drive cage into it's own little spiral and tie it off too, then pull it out of the other spiral so it looks like a little wing or something.
Now prepare tubs of dye. You will need a tub for each color and make sure they are big enough to submerge your whole case in.
Start with your lightest color first, usually yellow since it is a primary color and other dyes will change it's color where they hit it.
Soak as much or as little of the case as you want to absorb that color, let it sit a good few minutes and then move to the next color, and then the next, etcetera.
When you are done, wring out any excess moisture, untie and unwrap, now you can either twist in the opposite direction or let it dry.
Line dry until completely dry and stiff, then wash in cold water.

Thanks DGRMKRP, do you happen to know of any threads or sites that tell how to make an entirely acrylic side panel?

actually that link you gave of the shirt reminds me of a toy I had as a kid called a Spin painter (http://www.highlights.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1820&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=198&iSubCat=199&iProductID=1820&ccid=KNC-1042-1000704&sccat=23724)
I think you could get the same effect on a case side panel if you mounted it to a motor, spun it and then dropped paint on it.
It could look pretty cool.
