Ok, so I was gonna save up and buy the 360 because of NFS Carbon, but I'm $50 away from buying a Wii, so I could play Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Discuss. What shhould I do?

Wii!!!
Then again... Wii!!!
I mean, does any other word in the English Language look so good with a helping of exclamation marks? (Not that Wii's actually a word...)

But keep in mind, I'm more interested in the games. I love NFS Carbon, but I play racing games all the time. I love Zelda, and I don't play strategic games often. Ocarina of Time got me back into Zelda, and I really want the next Zelda game, Twilight Princess.
Cons: It matches the Xbox, and doesn't compare to the 360 in speed, at all.

Pros: It's a game system that's focussed on the user enjoying themselves, and not making the best looking games.
Pros: It's cheaper.
Pros: You won't see the huge spike in the electricity bill. You seen the size of the PSU on a 360? I've seen smaller cars. Hell, i drive a smaller car.
Cons: Only a handful of good launch titles, with uncertain futures concerning other titles.
Pros: Back catalogue of high quality games downloadable. (The ones on xbox live are ****, let's face it.)
Cons: only 512 memory built in, vs. the 10Gig HD on the Xbox. Then again, the Xbox wants to be a media centre too, unlike the Wii, which is designed to entertain you with games and games alone.
The irony here is that The 360 wants to pass itself off as a media center too, but the Wii has the controller that looks like a remote...
-Dave
360 ftw! Alot of wii fans, but remember, with wii you only get more "childish games" if you want some hardcore First person shooters and a all that "gory" stuff, go with a 360. If you still like playing the mario games, go with a wii.
Get nfs carbonf or pc like the rest of us. Just hook a xbox 360 controller up to a pc, and it works fine.

That depends. Would a wireless 360 controller work with a pc?
btw, I know they make corded 360 controllers through USB; I want wireless.
I havent seen any votes for a PS3, is it that bad or sth?
Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel are kids games?
That's the one thing that Nintendo is actually forcing branching of. They want to have more M titles to pull the fps gamers from the ps3 and xbox.
Yes, there will be a lot of family-friendly titles, but over the next few years Nintendo plans to release quite a few of their flagship titles for teenage and adult gamers.

360 all the way Wii is fun but x360 blows it out of the water.
Better games more power and more mature content.
If you buy a wii you have to consider that you will never get games that get more mature. Your basically buying a system targeted at 16 down I don't know how old you are but if you ever want to play m rated games that don't play by moving around your screwed. If you want to play video games and you have to move around to play them idk about you but i would find myself saying too tired to play. Besides games like cod3 and red steel are launch titles you really think they there going to keep turning out games like that. Besides cod3 is on the 360
and you know how you use a gun the entire game that means that you have to walk around with your arms up all the time or play with some half assed controller. Besides Microsoft bought rights to like every franchise like gta and final fantasy.
So me being like a foot from a 360 go with that and buy a wii later I see price drops in the near future.
Also guys, imagine playing star wars with the wii controller. By the time you swing once, ****in darth vader over there is going to kill you're ass. Honestley, if you're a fat 40 year old dude, and looking to loose some weight other then playing ddr, then buy a wii. if you're a regular gamer dude, looking to own some nub in halo 3 via xbox live then buy a 360!
Lol its funny, I was reading my monthly Game informer, heres what it says,
"Top 10 things to do after new years" and the number 1 thing was "Stop making wii jokes, we get it...its a penis.." lmao it was funny.

I own an Xbox 360 and yes the games are beautiful. But if your computer is set up as a gaming rig (especially with dual gfx cards) you get about the same quality. I am running dual ATI 1900's and it actually looks better that the Xbox 360. I have tried to install my xbox 360 wireless controller using the plug-n-play cord and bluetooth to the pc with no avail, maybe you have to have the non-wireless one.
360 con: notorius for hardware failures (mine just lost video, owned it for less than a year)
wii pro: this thing is apparently modderific, I have seen several hacks for the remote alone on www.hackaday.com

Well...they have a crummy, tired, controller that's overloaded with stupid, ripped off features, they have NO flagship launch games, the console is overpriced, and get this: it doesn't even work properly. It's supposed to be 100% backwards compatible but just prior to launch, they realized it actually isn't. I mean, i gotta give some credit to Sony.
History Lesson:
Nintendo commissioned Sony during the development of the N64 to do research into a disk drive system. At the time, Nintendo was huge and sony made TV's, so they jumped it and produced lots of data. Nintendo decided to drop it all, which pissed Sony off no end, so they turned it into the Playstation, which gave the N64 a run for it's money, and most people will admit, helped to force Sega out of the market. Then the Playstation 2 came along, which people liked, and it pretty much knocked the gamecube down to the position of 'the other console'. But somewhere, between then and now, things went wrong. I personally blame their obvious attempt after E3 to rip off the new Nintendo Controller, followed by a horde of highly unpopular advertising campaigns.
By the time you swing once, ****in darth vader over there is going to kill you're ass.
That's because it's freakin' Darth Vader dude. He's gonna kick your ass no matter what. Me, i'd much rather be swinging something that actually resembles a light saber than twiddling a stick and randomly hitting buttons.

You can add up to a 2GB SD card, so that helps out with space, somewhat.
I have heard good things about the XBOX 360 all around and from many friends. Seems like the best thing Microsoft put out recently.
Nintendo has done magic with the Wii; it is insanely fun, especially with good friends over. Pick this one up just because; its not that expensive.
PS3 has a plethora of problems (Blu-ray, bad controller, overheating, expensive, no rumble, Sony themselves, etc) and is getting the most flak from everyone. For now, its better to wait.
My suggestion is to get some sort of Wii+360 or Wii+PS3 combo. That way you have the fun, but kiddy-ish games for the Wii, plus you get to retro game with the Virtual Console, and you get the high-def ultra-realistic next-gen games that Sony and Microsoft worked so hard to make possible.

A lot of that's opinion. Although i'm saying Wii, i try to give a more abstract and open view on the 2 consoles. All i can say is look up the scores.
Another way to put it is like this: Do you want to play something you've never seen before, or another racing game?

Like Wii is fun but graphics and hardware wise it doesn't stand up to the 360. The PS3 is just amazing but the 360 is a much more fun console to play on at the moment. But when the new metal gear solid and other games come out for the PS3 the tables will turn.

Unfortunately, that's where i'm going to have to stop you...what other games? Metal Gear is the only thing they have left. That being said, i'm looking forward to it. When it goes cross-platform. I'm not spending that much on a console for a single game that probably will go cross platform a for months later at most.
Another interesting piece of trivia:
Did you know that the current highest installation size for any game is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, at a whopping 3.9GB normal, 6.9 GB recommended? (I got a whole truckload of these...game trivia. Man am i a geek or what.)

From Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_(series)
Grand Theft Auto IV series
The next installment of the series, Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV), is stated to be released on October 16, 2007 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 (along with the possibility of a Nintendo Wii version[2]), the first Grand Theft Auto to be released simultaneously on the PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Both versions of the game have been indicated to obtain its own exclusive downloadable episodic content via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The only other information released by Rockstar has been regarding GTA IV's game engine, which will be the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine used in Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis.

Still totally don't get how the minds that came up with GTA, The Manhunt, and the Warriors could turn around and release a game about Table Tennis. Crazy.
I would expect a Playstation 3 port at some point in time...but i think it's going to be just that, a port of an XBox 360 game. Which is bad news for sony.

The wii might be an improvment in some aspects of the game, but let's face it, what I want in a console is the ability to turn my brain off after a long day. They will surely bring a new set of gamers, but for me moving around in circle looking like a freak is not what I have in mind. 360 rules

I figured out what I'm gonna do. I'm buying the Wii. My best friend has the 360 and NFS Carbon, while I'll have the Wii and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. We'll just do a console swap every now and then, so its basically the best of both worlds. We can both enjoy the two games we anticipated the most.

I agree with you, because otherwise it makes no sense at all :D
Grand theft auto has never wnet good on the pc. I mean using an xbox and playstatino controller you can get used to, but the pc keyboard and mosue is just...ehh I don't get the same grand theft auto expirience from it.

Although i agree with you, to be fair, you can buy a gamepad for your PC too. There's about 10 gazillion playstation pad rip offs. Not that the playstation pad in any way rips of Nintendo's technology. [/sarcasm]

if you're buying a different system because of the games (Zelda or NFSC) then i say go with the Wii. Zalda is WAY better then NFSC. It's had some bad reviews here in AU from GoodGame and a lot of peopel say it's nothing new and original like past games. So go with the Wii =]

I say Wii. While the 360 is nice, it's at a sad last in my console buying order (First being Wii, then PS3, then 360).
Also, you silly people and your Halo 3 nonsense. Come on guys, think about it. Halo 2 is coming out for PC. Microsoft would have to be run by idiots to put Halo 1 and 2 on the PC but not 3. And Halo 2 will be playable on Xbox Live on the PC, so no worries about friends "Live"ing and you playing against only PC guys.
So again, my vote is Wii.

Sorry if i missed somthing, this thread is so generic that i didnt find the need to read everyones posts.
Spend the money on a new video card and download Wii, PS3, 360 emulators.
Do that and you've essentually bought all three systems for the price of a computer upgrade.

Legalities aside, when you show me a Wii, a PS3, and a 360 emulator, then this will actually be possible. They cant even emulate a GameCube at full speed, much less 3 new next-generation consoles. This may be feasible in, oh, say 5 or 6 years.

Well, here is my .02. I have a Wii and love it. Nintendo titles are all about having fun. If you say that Super Smash Bros. is not fun to play because you cannot rip Link's spine out, then you are not a real gamer, just a sicko. Twilight Princess is amazing. If you play it you will love it. Gaming with the Wiimote is probably the most intuitive thing ever, and Nintendo makes sure that it helps the game to be better. If it doesn't improve the quality of the experience, then they won't use the Wiimote.
One example is the new Smash Bros, which is rumored to be played with either the classic controller, or the Gamecube controllers. Nintendo knows that it is all about the game.
PS3 has one good launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man. This game is incredible. All reviews I've read say that every aspect of the game will amaze you. This is the only good thing about the PS3 right now. The only other thing is using it as a Blu-ray player. Any other Blu-ray player is about $1000 right now. The PS3 is worth it for that alone.
360 is pretty much the stuff right now. The price dropped a little, it can play HD-DVDs, and the games for it right now are so good. Gears of war is way way fun. I went to a competition a few weeks ago and loved what I saw. The 360 is a solid buy right now and you can find one anywhere.
I know you already decided to get a Wii, which would be my overall recommendation, so happy gaming and make sure to tell us how it goes.
Anyone wants to give me a Wii for my birthday? :D I mean what teh ***, XBOX (not 360) costs ~369$ here.
