Okay, so i'm using windows, and the display is messed up bad. I only have the lowest of low resolution option and I can only have 4 bit color quality. Any suggestions on how to fix that?? I was thinking about copying some files from my brothers pc and pasting them into mine as I think thats what I messed up. But I really have no idea what I did. I'm just guessing that there are files missing somewhere.

I see 2 things to look for:
- Is your drivers are up to date or not messed up with other ones
- Check your Bios to see if there's enough Memory dedicated to it

Hope it helped

I can't even access the internet now. Yeah, I am almost certain now that I am missing files in the ?registry? or something like that. I was thinking about taking 8 CD's and coping all of the files on my brothers PC and then pasting them in mine?

Not a good idea, exept if your brother have the exact same config as you do.
Start by reinstalling you drivers, Use Driver cleaner (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Driver-Cleaner.shtml)to make sure you dont mess it more.

Okay, here is a screen shot. Anyone know what to do?? Oh yeah, and I can't install my ATI video card driver, which I guess makes sense? This computer doesn't even have a GPU spot to plug it into.

I once overloaded my old computer, had the graphics crash and ended up like that. I just restarted it and it worked. I still have screenshots and video form when it happened.

oh how many times I have restarted this computer! lol

Actually this happened before on my other computer and I restarted it and it worked just fine. But that isn't the case with this. Like I said, I think I am missing some files. I was hoping my driver would install and fix them, but it won't even install for some reason.

How did it get messed up?
You could try and do a system restore, or Repair using the installation CD.
Also if you've got lots of HD space, you should use something like Shadow User, which basically is a back-up program that restores all the data when you restart.

I tried system restore, but I don't have a system restore point. I don't have the installation CD for windows either. That would be nice to have though! I wouldn't mind losing all my info to fix this problem. There really isn't anything on this comp aside from like msn messenger.

Shadow user just copies everything doesn't it? lol That doesn't really help me at this point, but as soon as I figure it out, I will have some sort of restore deal going on.

Copying files is a no no. You could fubar your system more and quicker.

Go to Control Panel ->System->Device Manager
There should be at least 1 item that has a yellow exclamation point on it. What is that item called?

If it's not showing something, your best bet is to check your bios settings.

oh haha

THATS what you meant! For some reason, that didn't hit me till just now. I guess it was because you said "up to date", where my problem was I had no driver what so ever. I know, I know, excuses will get me no where right?

Wow this belongs in the NOOB section. Should have told us it was a DELL with onboard graphics. Next time list your specs with the problem youre having. Go to Dell support website, download all the drivers for your model and burn to disk. Case Closed.
