Anyone knows of a way to get our consoles/DVD players (XBox, PSX, GC, SNES, etc...) to play on our computer screens?

By using the RCA wires that comes with our consoles (or the SVideo cable, I have an adapter that works with every consoles in my house), to send the signal to a VGA monitor. Id need some kind of box to jack everything in.

If you need some kind of drawing to understand the thing, Id be graceful to do it. Any kind of link, build up or scheme to build one would be appreciated :)

You could also get a TV Card for your computer. I have one and it's real nifty for playing games on my xBox.

Yeah, just a regular PCI TV tuner with RCA-in would be easiest. Newegg has them for like $20.

Protip: The resolution on those things is ****, though. Seriously. I'm pretty sure that short of a HD-RCA to VGA cable or such you're gonna have a tiny little thing to play.

Yeah I just got a TV card the Leadtek WinFast DTV2000H it takes a RCA video in and there is an RCA audio jack on my speaker unit. And since I have two screens I have tv or my PS2 in one and the internet in the other.

Mainly I didnt wanted to use a computer for that... since I dont know if my Pentium2 will support these cards. And if I go laptop later, the PCI alternative won't work. Is there any good USB 1.1 (the slow USBs) alternative for this?

ATi Makes a USB adapter with RCA and S-Video on it, if I'm not mistaken.

Protip: Assuming I know what I'm talking about, USB2.0 devices are backwards compatable with 1.1.

Actually Most New models of ATI and Nvidia cards have ViVo(Video input video output) built in. Its basically an interface to use RCA jacks going into your computer and going out. its really a cheaper solution if your card supports it.

Well, that requires that you have a card with ViVo, which he probably won't have if he's running a P2. The USB thing is universal (Get it? Universal serial bus?) so it'll run on anything, well, with USB ports really.

And if I'm not mistaken, all the ViVo stuff is mainly in AIW cards, whereas most people with Radeons just rune the normal version =/

Has anyone thought of the solution of getting a DVI -to- Component or VGA -to- S-Video adapter? This could allow you to use one of the extra inputs of your monitor, if you have them.

Those products can do the job... (http://www.startech.com/product/itemlist.aspx?product_desc=COMP2VGA&search.x=18&search.y=15)

Ouch... that price actually hurts the eye.

And no, I really doubt my Radeon 7500 or Voodoo3 3000 AGP, have them. ^_^

And what is that DVI-to-Component or VGA-to-SVideo adapter thing? Id use a standard CRT monitor, which means I only have one VGA cable that I cant remove from the screen...

But actually, these Startech products are what I need, but are far too much pricey. And besides, the cheaper one can get *only* to 1280*1024, and my current screen gets to 1440*900, and my 17" CRT gets to 1600*1200 >_<

The adapters I was refferring to was this (http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/vga-rgb-component.html) and this (http://www.national-tech.com/catalog/vgatorcacomponentvideocable.htm), but since you don't have multiple inputs on your monitor, I am not sure that they would help your cause, since they are an either-or solution. I also don't know how good the video quality would be, but I just wanted to pitch this option out there for those that can't/don't want to have their computer running to use it as a TV.
