Specific? 3/8ths thickness is the standard for building with I think.

Dimensions? Um... Whatever suits my needs the cheapest.

I'll let someone else answer on how to cut it. If it's 1/8ths thickness you can easily score it then snap it.

Any other questions? Like say... Sticking it together without using screws? If you want to "glue" your pieces together. Forget about it, don't ever glue acrylic together. What you want to do is "fuse" it together. For doing this you can use a product called "weld-on". CLICK ME (http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/category.php?bid=21&)

Jigsaw, scroll saw, band saw. Use a metal blade on a low speed. A wood blade will tear up the edges too much causing messing cuts. And the low speed will help make sure you don't melt the plastic after you cut it. Work slowly and the the blade do its job.

My experience with cutting acrylic is not extensive. But I did do it with very easily obtained clean cuts. I used a band saw (and a metal blade like aero said will have much smaller teeth), but I used it on a mid range speed without applying much pressure, just gently guide the sheet through the cutting zone. You can reduce friction of the blade by hitting it with WD-40 before hand escpecially if using a jigsaw, this should help prevent "snagging". It's not as hard as you might think to get a clean cut, then sand the edges smooth with low grit sandpaper until you have the shape well defined, then high grit to take out the blemishes, the try flame polishing the edges. Ask Tybrenis for tips on this, he is the authority here on plexi/acrylic.

from my experience 3 mm is a bit thick to just score and snap. You would have to score it about 1/2 way through to get a clean snap.
