to trim a bolt you thread on a nut, cut it off, then unthread the nut. that is it. it takes all the burrs off and you don't need to do jack with it.

It's a simple trick to keep thread, but most people don't know it before someone shows them. So, don't get upset and call them stupid, just show them the trick.
