I've bought a new Thermaltake Shark, and it's giving me headaches! When I put the motherboard(Asus P5W DH W/E6600 CPU) into it, the only thing that happens is that the fans run. When I put the system back into my xaserII case it works fine....Any ideas?

hhmmm :
-the PSU is busted(what psu are you using)
-the PSU may be good but it is under powered(again what do you use)
-the video card may be out of alignment (the case could be bent)
-start troubleshuting, remove bits like, ROM drive, a DDR module, sound card, and even a HDD if you have to go that far
but before you RMA it do quic test, mount the sistem in the xaserII and try to power it with the PSU that is in the Shark(that is if its not the same one)

PS: welcome!

my first thought... the motherboard is shorting out. make sure that the motherboard is touching nothing but the little pins it is supposed to sit on top of...(the ones that you put the screws in to hold the board down)

I dont think it is has anything to with any components part your power supply or the installation of the motherboard. If your ram or video card or cpu isnt right, you would still be able to fire it up, it just wont run past the bios beeps.

it must be the shorting of the motherboard. so..make sure that its sitting right, screwed down tight, and not touching any part of the case....and then see if that works.

bartvandenberg may have a point here, the mobo could short on something

but i dont fully agree with you,
for example on my mobo ASUS P4C800 if the video card is not pushed in right the sistem wont go
