I have loved the idea of case modding from the moment I first read about it on these forums. After playing around with my Counter Strike mod. I felt I needed some extra more information. So I bought a book. Not just any book but the The Maximum PC Guide to Extreme PC Mods by Paul Capello and Jon Phillips.
n first looks I though the book would just be about how to paint and use tools. But it is so much more.
A helpful guide to overclocking.
Many detailed walkthroughs on neat modding projects to making a case window to putting a cone on a fan
Guide to buying modware online
A case guide
A story concerning toasted cheese sandwiches and tiny people living in radios
The list goes on.
Thank you Paul for writing a great book. It will keep my entertained at work for many months to come.

I got it off ebay from the US. You can also get it off Amazon. It is pretty much only sold in the US.

It is a great book. I got it from my library and read it countless times.
it also gives a nice selection of different cases that are wonderfully designed.. giving you a variety of stuff to look at for inspiration

You will be able to get it in most book stores and libraries in the US. Glad you enjoyed it Simon!

Funny thing, before I knew who Paul was, I saw this book everywhere. Now I cannot find it except on Amazon...
I recently spoke with one of the managers that purchase and recommend books to purchase for Micro Center in Sunnyvale and I gave her the book info. She was interested and is going to order a case for the store (since they do have an extensive computer modding section).

No problem. I want the book, and would rather buy it from a local shop. (I am more of a hands on buyer) Plus it gives them some incentive to stock more. More stock, more sales, more reputation, more $$ for the author. All pluses!
Working on another one yet?
EDIT: You sig was confusing until I found the site... Now I chuckle every time.

Thx for speaking a lot about it, now I've just ordered mine from Amazon...
I've got mine sitting right on top of my tower. I used to have it on the desk untill I tapped it with my arm a few weeks ago. The book hit a bag of nuts, that pushed my piggy bank, that slid a roll of tatpe that moved a Stereo controller that knocked over on old can of Mountain Dew and soaked everything...including the last chapter of the book.

That sounds pretty improbable. C'mon man, if you were drooling all over it, it's ok. No-one here will judge you.

too bad you didn't have time to video that.. sounds like a goldberg machine.
Clean your desk Aero.
The book's water cooling section really helped me deal with my first setup.
I've also used it too see what specialty items exist on the market to make things easier.
It's a good guide and has some amazing mods displayed.

Sounds to me like a cleverly improvised Rune Goldberg contraption.

I wouldn't exactly call my desk "clever", maybe more like a black hole, or possible bio-hazard.

I almost bought this book from Barnes and Nobles--but opted for PC Modding for Dummies, because, well--that's me when it comes to modding. That one is not a bad read either--and it has pictures of different Mods in it--Orac III is SWEET!

After my review three more of your books have been sold Crimson.
I WANT A COMMISSION!
Just kidding
I' am really enjoy the book your style of writing is very good especially all the comic turn of phrase used sometime.
I really loved the window mod you do with Farcry in chapter 3 the effect is kinda neat. I am inspired and I am planning on doing something similar. In another case.
One question though since you have metal like the hill that overlaps the window how did you get the acrylic to sit so flush with the side panel wouldn't there be a slight raised edge around the borders? Or is it just a trick of the photography? (Reference Chapter 3, Page 52, step 17 Also referring to Chapter 3 page 53, step 19, image 2)
Thanks

You did a review?!! Oh..You mean you posted a comment on it :p
The distance from the metal to the acrylic is only as thick as the 3M double stick tape used to adhere it--pretty thin. The jigsaw leaves a pretty clean cut so all you need to do is a bit of filing.

Just received THE book a few minutes ago :) Firsts impressions: Nice look, nice pics, nice tutorial... Too bad I saw almost all the worklogs on most of the mods... My fault, I spend too much time on internet. When does the Part 2 coming out?
