Well, brand new to the forum (yay!), got intrigued after seeing the Doom 3 mod for the first time. Keep in mind that i'm a COMPLETE noobie to modding.
And being that i'm saving ALL of my money right now to go into the computer to replace the craptop i'm on right now, this is going to be an idea for a few months unless one of you guys decides to take it on.
So i was daydreaming in school (boring world cultures class...) and thinking about the bioshock trailer i saw (no i don't own a 360, saving). And then this initial idea hit me.
Because of the Bioshock setting taking place underwater, have a mod (merely a case design right now) to emphasize that theme. This of course, is a case mod designed entirely around water cooling.
Now, here was the first idea that came to my mind. And one of the few ideas so far. Take a case with a full side, and cut out a hole. The hole would be rectangular, except for the bottom which would be cut in the shape of silhouettes of buildings. Then take a couple pieces of acrylic to fit in there as a window. Here's where it gets cool though.
First you need to cut the acrylic a bit larger then the size of the window. Then, lay some clear tubing across the top, drill 10-20 small holes in it, cap the end, and then attach it in place. Then you want to complete the box with a side panel the same size parallel to the original, and then add sides and a top. The bottom piece to seal the window up would be slanted towards the back of the case. This bottom would not be seen looking in on the window.
On the bottom of the "box" window you would drill a hole and add another tube, which would link into the water cooling system to act as a temporary reservoir. Then to finish it off you would slap on a "Bioshock" 3d logo in the dead center :D
The end effect would be this: A custom window that has a Bioshock logo on it, and when the PC turns on and the water cooling is put into effect, water will spray from the top tube onto the sides, creating a waterfall of water just inside of the case, but still contained by the built acrylic box.
The acrylic would hold the falling water as a reservoir, and viewing the inside of the box (which would have aqua-green lights) the inside would have the effect of seemingly being enveloped in water.
Ideas? opinions? Keep in mind i'm too dead broke to build any of it ;)
