suppose i added LEDS to my mouse/keyboard, how will i connect it to my cpu to make it light? most mouse&keyboard mod guides only show how they applied the LEDs but did not say how they actually connected it to the power source or the cpu... should i connect it to another molex? if that is so then my mouse will have to cords, one for the actual cord going to the back and another misplaced one going in another hole to connect to one of the molex inside. i really need help./ thank you so much.

Your PS/2 or USB port contains a 5volt line that provides plenty of power for this. Although, if you didn't know where the power source was going to come from, it's highly likely that you've not wired the LED's right.
The 5 volt pin can be connected in parallel to power your additional LED's.
What sort of LED's and resistors are you using? Can you post a pic/circuit diagram?

and a nother thing....
what do you mean "conect it to the CPU"
do you want to the led to flash like the led on the case
cause if this is what you are trying to do, you are not looking at it the right way:
what you would need to do is to conect to the HDD ribon (cant remember what pin, Dave help me out here)
but again tell us what mean by "conect it to the CPU", what are you thinking about?

I think "connect it to the cpu" was just a miscommunication... I've often heard people refer to their pc case (tower, desktop) as a CPU.
If you are unsure of where to find power in a mouse or keyboard, get yourself a multimeter, and start testing. :)
Be careful of LED's though, as they need resistors to prevent them from recieving too much power and "burning out".

I think he meant PSU. It's normally Pin1 that carries the 5Volt signal, but we really need to hear from him again, to find out how he's set things up.

hi guys, im sorry for making confusion, i only mod with fans and the case and im new to modding other peripherals and electrical stuff.
again, what if i want to mod my mouse(with leds for instance) or my keyboard(with EL wires for instance), i dont know how and where to connect them., (btw when i said cpu i really meant the tower not the processor, sorry bout that). i want to mod my mouse&kb but i really dont know how to do the electrical stuff.

ahaaaaa i see the light now lol
ok
its rather simple:
-grab a multimeter
-pop open you'r mouse
-now, use the multimeter to finde a power and ground line(if you dont know to use a multimeter, we will clear that also)
-ok so you have you'r power, now solder the LED to the power line and ground, BUT dont revers the LED, an LED has one leg longer than the other, it only works one way, so find "the right way" before you solder it in
if you need help with any thing else, ask 1

oh. so i dont need additional wiring for the leds? do i need resistors?

no you don't any more wiring
....as for resistor it depends on the voltage you find, if its 5v you'r ok
if not, will talk about it

what if i use more than one LED? and connect them parallel?
what if i use more than one LED? and connect them parallel?
If you run in parallel you should be fine. Check out this thread for more LED info.

+5 volt LED's might still need a resistor...it's a current-limiting resistor, so a tiny one will do.
