Ive wanted to do a mod like this to an original grey Game Boy for a while now, and i finally have an extra GBA SP and Game Boy.

Has anyone ever done a mod like this before? If anyone has advice it would be appreciated.

I've taken apart several GBC's. I would just be careful not to loose any of the bottons and make sure you don't hurt the mainboard, otherwise have a blast.

What you are gonna do with the side buttons?

Cut holes in the back for L and R . Im going to cut the whole back of the Gameboy off. from the battery comp. to the cart slot so i can change games and recharge it without taking the whole thing apart.

hm... ive taken apart the origial GAMEBOY and doing this mod will take ALOT of time. But when im done ittle be worth it.

Now looking at the sizes of the systems, i think the best combo will be GBA SP in a GBC shell. because the button placement is almost the same even tho the SP is a whole lot bigger. I cant get the GBC screen off of the shell though. I havent tried THAT hard to get it off because it is my only gbc system and i dont wanna break it.

i think a mod of a gameboy in a TI-83 calculator shell would be better (playing games during math!) but this still sounds interesting

Getting the screens and stuff from a gameboy colour isn't difficult. Getting past Nintendo's anti-tamper screws is.

They can hard sometimes, but can be taken out easily with a small flat skrewdriver.
