I am doing a project in one of m classes and was going to an etching with leds to light it up through some plexi glass. I was wounder if the plexi needed to be a certian width how deep do you cut into the plexi, and what sort of LED's would be brightes and help the etchign show up best.
Thanks for your time and sorry for repeating any questions already answered in the other LED and etching posts.

It should'nt matter how thick Your material is as long as You use proper cutting tools. Find the material You want to use, find the position of the etch or image and then find positions for Your LEDs. I guess if it's going to be square or there abouts then one in each corner. Drill holes not too much bigger than the LED heads and once You've done that position them and try it out. If it looks good then You can start glueing, BUT ONLY if Yer happy with the way it looks and it does what You wanted. And expect mistakes...Best of luck. Let Us know how it goes.:D

I can't seem to beable to find LED's small enough to fit in the side of the plexi... would a neon tube light work to light up plexi?

Yes, a CCFL would work, but mroe expensive. Check out www.lsdiodes.com for LED's. They're 45 cents each. How thick is your plexi?

If you just can pay the postages, i suggest you to buy your LEDs from Phenoptix (http://www.phenoptix.co.uk/). Yes i know it is in UK, but the leds they sell just are very bright and darn cheap.
I live here in scandinavium and still got them in like 1 week.
(I ordered also the resistors from there!)

You can also use EL wire. LINK (http://www.elbestbuy.com/liwicule.html)
Probably the best stuff for lighting up eches in plexi-glass.
Just line it around all sides of your glass and the light will reflect directly off you etch.
