Since i see no networking forum i put it here.

Recently my WRT54G linksys router's "Internet" in port died. It simply won't detect any connection. It seems to be a physical part that has been damaged, as not even the front light for internet in turns on.

So, i've upgraded to DD-WRT firmware. I took a look around and saw the VLAN page.

So here's my question:
By using VLAN settings or other, is it possible to use one of the other ports as the "internet in" port?

No. A VLAN is a virtual LAN, usually found on switches. They are used to separate broadcast/collission domains. They also provide a little security because one VLAN can not communicate with another unless you say it's ok. A router MUST be between the switches, unless they are layer 3 capable. A firmware update isn't going to change the fact that the port is physically dead. There is WAYYY too much info for me just to sit and type about regarding VLAN's. Here's a link that will explain VLAN's better. (http://net21.ucdavis.edu/newvlan.htm)

You beat me to the punch. Damn!
He's right and all that info is correct. I'd give a rep, but I can't.

k, just a quick FYI on what the router settings look like:

Is there any other way to configure your router to use one of the other ports as an input?

Negative.

Basically it is a switch so I don't see why you couldn't connect a separate modem or router to one of the network ports on it.

There wouldn't be anything to grab the WAN IP address. The LAN would work, but more than likely, no internet.
