Does anyone happen to know wherre I would be able to get the metal tracks that were used to frame the Doom3 project's plexi glass etching, and about how much it would cost. And will there be any modding of the piece for using it. Assuming it works on a 1/4" thick piece of plexi

First off, don't assume. Measure thrice (AT LEAST!), Cut once. I made the mistake of only measuring once today... It ended up in ten minutes of agony getting a 3in tall, 1/4in thick piece of aluminum to 38 5/8ths in.

That being said, It shouldn't be too hard to find metal in a U-channel sort of shape. I'd say go to local hardware stores before anything else. If you have the tools, you can get square tubing of the size you need and cut it in half (Giving you two U-channels, both the total height of the piece divided by two and then subtract the kerf of the blade you used, assuming you marked the line directly in the middle then cut on the line).

EDIT: So, to hold a 1/4th in. piece of plexi, you will want square or rectangle tubing where the ID (Interior Diameter) of the tubing is 1/4th in. to a tolerance of 1/16ths or so.
