I like Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. I don't have a particular movement (I think thats what they are called?) that I like more over the other. I also like the piece you listed, I think it was either that piece or Moonlight Sonata that was my first "classical experience". Pretty good stuff. *by the way, good video find, that guy is pretty funny. lol
A recent piece that I just listened to was Traumerai by Vladimir Ashkenazy. I think Vladimir Ashkenazy is supposed to be more of your romantic classical composer, but I like it.
sgtm, do you have a favorite classical instrument that you like to hear? Myself, I enjoy piano pieces the most. I also enjoy full orchestra pieces such as that from V for Vendetta... haha, sorry, I know its a really famous piece, I just can't ever remember it. ><
Update:
I also just listened to "Raindrop" by Vladimir Ashkenazy. Kind of reminded me of cowboy bebop if anyone has ever seen that show. It has a nice pretty melody at least.
ooh and I just learned he did a copy of Moonlight Sonata. Pretty well too.

Then you just got like 50 "ultra" rep points from me. That show is a classic, I don't think we'll be seeing it go out of style any time soon. It has too much... oh what is it? Culture? Hmmm, thats doesn't seem right. Well whatever it has, it has a lot of it. It's a classic for sure. The movie was pretty damn good too, but no where near as good as the series.
Do you remember when it first hit the streets? HA! People were freaking out over it! It was beautiful. :p
Back to the threads topic, sgtm, I'm sure you have heard of Johann Sebastian Bach but have you ever HEARD him? I have actually never HEARD him, but I hear he is pretty good. lol
I'll have to find some pieces by him on the internet somewhere... What kind of musician is he? Piano? Violin? Full Orchestra? Hmmm... I'll have to google him. **oooh! He was a man of the Organ! SWEET, I'm definitely going to have to find some pieces by him online somewhere. Anyone have a link?

Lets see.. J. S. Bach. I'm sure you've heard his music, maybe just didn't realise who it was. As far as favorite instrument. It would have to be either trumpet or tuba. Those were the most fun to play. Another cool composer to check out would be German composer Richard Wagner (pronounced Reekard Vagner). He uses a lot of minor chords conveying anger/frustration. I guess he was mad most of the time. Gustav Holst has some good stuff too. Definitely check out his symphony of The Planets. Mars - The Bringer Of War is my favorite, and I've played Jupiter. I'm into Drum and Bugle Corps pretty heavy, have been since the early 90's. Check this out for a demo. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1059253950156310566&q=dci) That's the Blue Devils (http://www.bluedevils.org) from Concord, California in 2004 during the Tour of Champions. They are playing a piece called Autumn with Space Chords in the middle section. During Space Chords, the tubas play what is the opening/underlying sequence in Mars. Let me know if that interests you, I've got TONS more.

This just goes to show you the un-originality of music today. Its to bad the guy is dead, he would be rolling in the cash from royalties and lawsuits.
****ing "so called" artists....

I recognize that song, but I can't put my finger on it. Anyone want to take a shot at a guess? Or better yet if you actually know it would be killer.
sgtm, I think that is a total possibility that I have heard him before, That has happened alot to me in the past. I've heard of Richard Wagner but never really got around to actually listening to him. I'll check out Gustav Holst when I get the chance.
That was a pretty sweet video, I like how they are all so non formal. Kind of think of it... I have his shorts. haha.
