I used to frequent this forum, and have recently started again! I am completely new to modding and have a very basic computer background, but some of the projects on here really inspired me to try something of my own! So...
I found an old JVC Stereo and hope to fit i new motherboard and processor in it, and other old components I have lying around the house (untill i can afford better)!
Whole Stereo:

Hopefully i'll be going to get a new motherboard at some point today...

This is going to be a lot more work than I anticipated, a bit more money too :( However, i'll still give it a go!

Hmmm...have not seen one of these before. Nice idea! It always ends up being more time and money than we thought, but always worth it. Welcome back!

Don't get me wrong, im all for power! But a JVC system would have really small speakers which:
1. Don't look impressive.
2. Distort as soon as the chorus starts on your Spice Girls CD.
I have a 200w system currently, but its a proper PA System. Remember kids, its only good if it dosen't have a built in radio.

It's not not the speakers the problem, it's the Spice girls... :D

FIGHTIN WORDS.
I don't think that was one of their album titles? You must be thinking of Spiceworld.

:D I meant to do a similar thing ages ago with a Game Boy and an External Hard Drive. Unfortunately I never got round to it, and have since lost the game boy! :( So I saw the Remote today, and thought "Ahhhh" so I went to dig out a Stick i'd been given. Like I said, a bit of fun! :)

I tidied up the wire by cutting it into the end of the remote!

A Media Center is becoming more and more appealing. Im going to have to go on the scrounge for old parts soon. Can't buy anything new (saving for a course, so I can work on a Super Yacht! :))

good idea, i wish i had thought of something like that.since this thread has something to do with audio equipment , it is all about the power. my system in my room i built from car components, it was originally a rca 100w 5 cd changer. after some consideration i ripped it apart. using a older home av amplifier and linked them together. the result is a 700w, with 400w of it going to 2 12" subs in a bandpass enclosure. the remaining 300w goes to various speakers around my room, in addition to a extra 8" sub under my bed. 5 pictures shooken off wall - 80$ fined for disturbing the peace - 50$ bass that can be felt through the entire house - priceless lol

Do you have any pictures of this system? Sounds awesome, i want to do something similar. How did you power the headunit and amp?
patthemodder
01-22-2007, 04:57 PM
well the head unit and amp are powered with the cords and power supplies in them. i connected them by internally linking the audio output from the rca, see the way mine was set up, the audio output from the cd player, the tape player and the radio, merges into 1 set of wires, then it goes into the 100w internal amp. i spliced into that connection to the amp and ran wires out a hole in the back.. these are spliced into the audio input for the av amplifier. i have 4 6 1/2 advent 100w rms surround speakers running off the output from the rca. the other amp was mainly for my subs. i have the 2 12's and 1 8" running off that.
important!
you cant use a powered audio source running into the amp. for example the audio outputs on the back of a dvd player. those are not powered and are fine to run through a amp. running a audio signal of about 10w or more into a amp would probaly burn it up. trust me i learned the hard way on this.
i will try to take some pictures today as well

ok, here you go my 12" subs, my 8" sub, the 100w 5 cd changer, and the old 600w power amp, oh yeah, and the 4 6 1/2 advent 100w speakers, enjoy..
