I have been asking for help and advise on this forum for this project for about a week now, and I wanted to show off my progress, and let you guys give some advice and maybe some more help if you would be willing. Thanks again for the help you have given me on this site.

^-- This is a photo of my etching that I did on my piece of 1/4" acrylic plexi.
This project is an assignment to make a name sign to show who you are and identify your desk space. I still need to figue out how to put a housing for the 9v battery and the wires.

^-- Here it is lit up in the dark to show how the LED's light it up. All I used for the LED's was a strip of LED's that are used in a car adn then hot glued it to the edge. I am hoping to make a border housing for it to hide the LED strip and help keep it in place.

I am a bit lucky guy really. Due to my major I have access to a very capable shop. First I did the design in illastrator, and then made a mirror image of the design. Then I simply saved it and sent it to another computer that was operating a lazer cutter. then the machine did all the work really.

The LED's were easy just two stips of auto LED's wired to one 9v battery... they aren't as bright as they could possibly be but good enough.

Laser etching lets you do so much more than freehand stuff. The shading and detail that it's capable of just blows my mind.

Lookin good!
